I have a couple of answers and I believe I may have the valet key but shouldn't the key fob button unlock the trunk even if you don't have the black key?

The key fob should open the trunk. Isn't there also a button in the interior that will open the trunk too? It is possible that the solenoid is jammed or just defective. I assume that the fuses have been checked. Have you tried the non-valet key?
It may come down to getting the dealer to cut you another key or having a locksmith take a look at it.

Have you tried spraying WD-40 into the lock cylinder to free up the tumblers?

Good luck with it, if you can't get it open, then get a locksmith.
