These are two of the most needed qualities in a marriage. They should be able to rely totally upon each other and although total dependency would be unhealthy to the relationship, dependency when needed most is of the utmost importance. As is honesty and faithfulness. Total faith in your partner is something needed as well, as it is one truly rewarded emotion when given as well as recieved.

You've got to be able to trust your spouse, be able to talk about anything, know you have each other's backs. Be each other's biggest supporter. In the Christian faith, the wife is submissive to the husband, and the husband is to love his wife. That doesn't mean the wife caves in all the time, it does mean they talk about issues and she defers to his decision. If he makes the wrong one, they work it through together. He is to respect her opinion and acknowledge her strengths. Both are to be champions for the other. Can you imagine the kind of relationship a couple can have when they both put the other's needs before their own?
