In this country, hunting is legal, but you could argue it doesn't cause sufferring, it just kills the animal outright. What about eating meat? No one wants to stop eating meat, fair enough humans are omnivores, but what about certain meat producers who are extremely cruel to the animals? Does that bother you too?

Don't cows, deer, and pigs deserve the same sympathy as cute and cuddly dogs?

I don't believe meat producers enjoy suffering, but there have been cases where animals were treated cruelly for expediency or profit.

Also what about hunting? Maybe hunters don't eat the deer, they just kill for fun.

I realized the title of my question doesnt clearly explain my point. I think dog fighting is wrong and extremely cruel, I just want to bring attention to other more non-sympathetic animals that are also treated cruelly. My question should be 'why aren't you also angry about ..'

I love the business of the way our society thinks these days! In the history of mankind, very rarely does one see where their survival isn't based upon the killing of animals for meat. PEOPLE EAT MEAT TO SURVIVE. That being said, and back to your question ....
the business of dog-fighting is very cruel and at least one of the dogs that fight (providing we are talking about just two dogs) dies in the fight or very soon afterwards. The dogs tear off the meat of other dog's bones! It is mutilation and it is pathetic that people get their kicks out of such pathological behavior. It is illegal, is FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE DOGS, and not the humans who allow it and gamble on the outcome of the fight. Since the government can't "arrest" a dog for fighting - they can and do arrest the humans that allow the process to happen. It is ENTERTAINMENT, and it is considered a "blood sport". In fact, it is presumed to have existed since the initial domestication of the species (dog). Pure breeds such as the English Bull Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier were popular as fighting dogs, but were originally developed as "bait dogs". Other pure breeds including the Irish Terrier, the bulldog, the Kerry Blue Terrier and the Parson Russell Terrier were used for fighting along side their original use in vermin control and other farm work.

As of 2007, dog fighting is a felony in 48 states and a misdemeanor in Idaho and Wyoming. In most states, it is against the law to even attend a dog fighting event, regardless of direct participation. According to authorities, dog fighting is increasingly practiced by gangs, and is linked to other unlawful activities, such as gambling and drug use. Until we as a society can maintain our own lawful entertainment we will always have government controls. We still have animal welfare and rights. See the charges against Michael Vick - he is done, and will probably NEVER play football again plus he will most likely do some jail time - over "entertainment"!

I worked at a beef plant for years when I was younger on the "kill floor" I have personally killed thousands of cattle with a knocking gun in a chute. I always tried to do it as quickly and as efficiently as I could. But half the time we produced Kosher meat...to be Kosher, the animals were strung up 20 at a time by a chain on their back ankle and rabbis cut their throats while they were alive...for 16 hours (2 shifts) the moaning was continuous and I could feel the fear of the animals....It bothers me that man can be that cruel. I eat meat, but I do not hunt....I figure I have done my bit for society in supply meat and I kill nothing today...Sometimes I nearly cause accidents by trying to miss birds and animals in my car...and even try not to step on bugs...I only kill what is trying to bite me.

Dog fighting (and often dog racing) is extremely cruel because they animals are raised for only one purpose...to provide entertainment...when the animal is no longer useful, they kill them. The use of animals in that way is disrespectful to life in general and demeans all life

some people believe that all animals should be protected from hunting and people should be vegetarians.

however, there are valid arguments for hunt other than the desire to kill. some game animals could become endangered or extinct because of over population. the spread of humans into their habit generally forces out the natural preditors. keep in mind that humans are natural preditors as well.

as for dog fighting, that is the use of animals for entertainment and explotation. animals get used for that all the time (movies ect). however, their use to fight and kill each other in an unnatural way is simply wrong. even when to boxers step into the ring, the fight is stopped before someone is severlly injured.

Because the way pigs and other live stalk are killed is a clean slit of the throat or maybe shot I think. Quick and easy.
They have to be killed in the most pain free manner.
Farms are inspected regularly and it's for food.
I love pigs and would love to have a pet pig but I will still eat pork.

These sickos that make dogs fight are just cruel. The dogs tear each other into sh reads and they suffer.
That's why

The cruelty involved here goes beyond simply fighting the dogs...many dogs have their ears cut off so the other dog won't have anything to hold onto...they are tied up close together, but not so close that they can reach each other and semi starved before fights...dogs are stolen from good owners and trained to fight...if they are untrainable or refuse to fight, they are electrocuted or drowned or just used as play toys for the other dogs.

I would gladly give Michael vick a few shots with a cattle prod so he can experience his own brand of "fun"...

Why stop there? Why don't you support the death penalty for those who kill ALL life forms. Of course, that would include trees, vegetables, fish, mamals and insect.

The point is, while I abhor hunting, there is a vast difference between the sport of hunting (although a few hunt outside the law) and pitting two animals against each other so that one may die and the owner of the other may prosper financially.

This isn't about killing as much as it's about an unnatural act for financial gain.

First, the guy who reported pepper spray or mace is a fool. Pepper spray has no result on maximum dogs in any respect. 2nd, as reported by utilising others, report this to animal administration or a ranger as six wild dogs may be very risky as you have considered, it ought to have been worse. As for innovations while it incorporates genuinely war of words with a unfavourable dogs: Stand nevertheless and placed your palms on your wallet - a waving arm is an obvious aim and must be interpreted as aggresion by utilising the dogs. sidestep eye touch, dogs view eye touch as a undertaking, and shortage of eye touch exhibits you're submissive and the dogs would be much less possibly to attack you. If a dogs does bite, do no longer shy away considering will tear the flesh, yet shout for help. while you're bitten and the bite is powerful, you ought to attempt and use a lever like a brilliant stick to pry the jaws open (from the side) by no capacity turn your lower back on them, and by no capacity run by way of fact they're going to consistently overtake you. Dont make unexpected strikes, yet stroll away slowly in the event that they havent attacked yet. If it rather gets tough, kicking is a better selection than punching, as your legs create distance between you and the animal and are better than your palms. Kick complicated and lower back away, use your voice in a noisy commanding way. factor your arm extreme and faraway from your self and shout something like 'pass homestead', as maximum kin dogs will respond to vocal instructions. in the event that they're barring their enamel, their hair is on end and their tail is extreme, those are indicators they're approximately to attack.

What's the deal with watching dogs maul each other? These dogs are trained to be mean and vicious. That is doing an injustice to the animal.

Cows, deers and pigs aren't in the same category. So, don't try to make it sound right, by including them. You may as well have included rabbits.

The problem is multi-faceted.
However, animals that are killed for human consumption don't figure into the problematic equation as easily as animals that are killed for blood-sport.
The national attention given to this issue is, in my opinion, racially motivated.
Michael Vick, a successful Black quarterback, is facing suspension from the NFL for alleged involvement in dog-fighting on his property.
Backwoods dog-fighting operations are run by poor Whites in rural Louisiana and NOTHING is ever said/done about it!

In our society, cows, deer, and pigs are food. Societal norms discourage if not prohibit ending their lives in an unnecessarily cruel manner.

Dogs are not food. Again, norms prohibit being unnecessarily cruel to them. Making them fight each other for entertainment is unnecessary.

I can assure you that meat producers do not entertain themselves by devising fun and exciting ways to torture cattle.
