In most cases mm is for millions and m is for thousands. I have seen where a capital M is used for millions in some circumstances normally talking about money. I am an engineer and I have always used mm for millions.

"m" is the official abbvreviation for "meters";
"mm" is "millimeters", and
"M" is the prefix meaning "one million"

It should be a capital M.
For example, 1Megahertz is express as 1 MHz

i dont know but when just writing either 1mm or 1m for millions..it can be mistaken or shown to others as millimeters...perhaps u can use exponents...i think it'd be 10 to the 6th power to resemble 1 million

I have typically seen millions as capital "M" and thousands as small "k".
e.g. "The age of dinosaurs ended 63Mya (millions or years ago)."

M , but I have seens some people use mil. as well.
