Of course I am proud to be an INDIAN. And since its my brothers birthday too, we are going to celebrate it anyway. Our celebration will include a morning prayer to thank God for all his blessing on everybody in the family and that will follow with the speech by the President/Prime Minister of India on the TV, where in we will salute the flag and sing the national anthem and then wish all our friends a Happy Independance Day.

Independence day is celebrated because: (1) To remember the sacrifices done for obtaining it. (2) To remind that if we do not behave with responsibility as a free nation ; it may be taken back. (3) Indepence day is a bith day of a free nation. (4) Those who are not free ; can not take independent decision.

In our residential complex there are about 64 flats . We arrange for a get together by 6 a.m. in the morning and celebrate our Independence Day by hoisting our flag, sing patriotic songs, distribute chocolate to one and all. The celebrations take about 1 hour.

I will sit quite at home, watch movies on TV, play with my daughter, share some time with my wife, help her at home, take nice afternoon-sleep, go out for walk in the evening... its just another holiday for me... for being a true Indian, I need not shout Bharat Mata Ki jai... and show off my Indian-ness. It has to be in my mind and my heart...
