If your time's limited, try focusing on Seattle Center since there's a lot of stuff right there: the Space Needle, the Sci-Fi Museum, and the Experience Music Project. Key Arena is also located in Seattle Center so if there's a concert or game (NBA Sonics; WNBA Storm; Western Hockey League Thunderbirds) you want to see, you're also covered, depending on who's in town and what time of year you'll be there.

The Woodland Park Zoo is also not all that far away (north of Seattle Center), and should be a not-too-bad drive.

Going south (downtown), you might want to try a bus or cab sooner than driving. In that direction, you can get to places like Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, Qwest Field (soccer & football), and Safeco Field (baseball - Mariners).

WildWaves (Six Flags) is in Federal Way...just past Seattle. It is kind of pricey, but a lot of fun. Don't buy the food there. It is nasty and very expensive. They don't let you take food inside, but you can leave a cooler in your car and get your hand stamped and go out to your car to eat and go back in. I just took my son, and my step-kids there last week and we all had a blast.
