The Great Cycle of the Mayan Long Count calendar ends on the winter solstice of 2012 A.D. Following Mayan concepts of cyclic time and World Age transitions, this is as much about beginnings as endings. In fact, it was considered by the ancient Mayans to signify the creation of a new World Age. We are almost at the end of the fifth and final 5,125 year cycle!

The Mayans would just begin a new calendar cycle if they were able to do so. I have read about dozens of Doomsday predictions, and all were/are/will be totally wrong! Why should anyone think such a primitive people as the Mayans would know more than the other predictors of doom, including Jesus and Nostradamus? Some people seem to love such nonsense. I cannot see why they do. I'll bet $1000 that the world continues without any drastic changes in 2013.

i was watching a documentary involving different theorys from different cultures and it seemed that even other cultures seemed to have information that made this alignment of the end of our age 12/21/2012. I don't think anyone has a certain day of the worlds end. I think there are several theory's that have been calculated with great speculation and knowledge, but only our creator knows when. That is the great mystery of life. I think there are several theories, that provide much scientific evidence but leave several doubts. Such as the big bang theory, the evolution of monkey to man, and the dinosaurs, ice age and ect. How do we know for sure when we weren't here then??Do we believe we are evolved from monkeys and that a meteor hit the earth and created an ice age?? That would disprove spiritual beliefs. Even if all these things had happened, is there any one answer that conveys the total truth. There can only be one answer, and that is unrational and spiritual- and can't be scientifically proven!!

It's not the Mayan end of days.
The Long Count does not end on that day or any other. In fact the winter solstice is the first day of Baktun 13, not the last day of anything.
At the end of Baktun 19 (thousands of years from now) the next step will be the beginning of the Piktuns.

There have been alot of End of Days prophesies out there so I am leery. But...The Mayans do have solid math and astrology behind them. I would tend to believe their calender more than other cultures who had a freak with a vision.... I don't know that this will happen and kind of doubt it really, but I will not be doing my Christmas shopping in 2012 until the 22ND!

Hey, that date only holds for the Mayans....the rest of us have longer!

See...that is as you said "The Mayans End of Days".......so, it doesn't apply to me. I'm not Mayan!

I think it's rather foolish to sit around worrying about when the end is near, anyway. I live my life as kindly and honestly as I can. I help others when I can. And, I try to remember to appreciate all the things and people in my life that I am blessed with. When my time comes....I will thank God for what I have been gifted with, and look forward to the next phase of existence for my soul.

Faith is the key here. I'm truly not a Bible banger kind of person. I have learned, though.....that when I learned to trust all things to Gods wisdom...my worrying could end. I'll give you a hint....something I learned while watching my Dad die....( HIS will is what is gonna be done, anyway ) We might just as well "go with it." And realize....HE know's what he's doing.

I hope this helps someone!

Do you know about the Millerites? It's not a good idea to base your theology on the idea that the end of the world is nigh.
