I don't think it's so much "boycotting Chinese products" as it is 'DEMANDING AMERICAN-MADE PRODUCTS."

I grew up in a place where there were easily a dozen textile mills scattered around. Perhaps not glamorous, but jobs were certainly plentiful, and essentially people worked there all their lives and supported their families (maybe why I left home for good when I went off to college?).

All those mills are gone now.

I want to see quality products made HERE again.

I want to see American companies that benefit from the labor of others PAY for that labor, with perhaps not quite-so-hefty CEO salaries.

I want to see American companies produce their goods HERE if they expect Americans to PAY for those products.

I would gleefully pay MORE for goods produced by my neighbors. I have not walked inside a WalMart in YEARS, and I will NEVER buy a WalMart product.

As far as I am concerned, they are the Mafia.

I am buying "Made in USA" whenever possible, and particularly avoiding products made in China when there is an option of something made elsewhere ... Honduras, Guatemala, Vietnam, Malaysia ... anywhere but China, if there's a choice. And, if there's no other option at the store I'm in at the moment, I will usually shop around to find something before finally giving my money to companies that are giving our industrial base and world economic influence to a Communist nation. Did you read the article a few weeks ago in Newsweek or Time, can't remember which, with quotes from young people in China? My heart broke for them. Not the factory workers -- the brainwashed communist consumers! They don't care that they have no voice, that the government 'owns' them, so long as they get their shiny toys. I hope we don't get that way too soon.

I have been checking labels for years and buying as little as possible foreign made goods.

Many of the things that I buy, I know the person that made it.
My last black powder rifle was custom made by a private gunsmith, lock stock and barrel.

Yes it cost much more than a factory made rifle, but it is a one of a kind piece of artwork that kept my dollars in the local economy.

Edit - All of us need to make a concerted effort to buy American products for both the sake of our economy as well as insuring the quality and safety of the goods for sale in this country.

A quality product will last longer and is thus lower in cost in the long run than having to replace the cheap import every couple of years.

If the cheap garbage that does not last is not sold and just collects dust on the shelf at the store, the stores will not carry the cheap garbage.

I don't care what foreign country makes the cheap garbage, stop buying it.

With many poor country either being in a complete chinese stranglehold- like Sudan f.e. - or not able to pay for better quality products, the idea of a boycott of chinese products is highly hteoretical at best.

Since only the rich, industrialized nations could afford such a boycott, the impact on the chinese economy would only be a marginal one.

A lot of Chinese crap would disappear from the USA market and we would be forced to make the stuff ourselves. Whatever they made for us we could make better albeit more expensively. OK less junk on the market, better quality and slightly higher prices. Less profit for the whores who send jobs overseas. And hopefully the safety of these products would be enormously better. Their economy would feel this cutback. Too bad. They are beginning to own us and it is time that we broke away from them. Good old America. Anything for a buck, even sell your country down the river. It started with Japan, then Korea and now China. Our deficit trade in the trillions.

For the most part, that's almost impossible to do. You'd end up boycotting your own computer. Many of it's components have been manufactured in China. Your car, even if American made, has tons of China manufactured products in the engine compartment.

I own a parts distributorship and although they might say Motor Craft, you'll find a small sticker attached that reads; made in China or made in Mexico.

I suggest buying anything made in the USA, when you can. Believe it or not, my flags are made here. They're more expensive, but certainly worth the additional cost. :)

I do think we need to stop outsourcing all of our companies.. outsourcing is one of the key factors that is leading us ever further down the class divide.... and until they get their products cleaned up you won't find me eating their food or buying any of their toys.... but I don't care to boycott them. I have no problem with China, or with China doing well... so many people WANT to set them up as or next great enemy... why can't they be our next great ally?

All I need to know is where do I shop where 99.9% of EVERYTHING in the store is not made in China?

What economy? You mean the economy that is working for only 2% of Americans?

When the gas prices go through the roof, I often think that if all Americans quit buying gas for 3 days, it would teach the petroleum industry a lesson. And it probably would. However, the probability of actually getting every American on board is rather daunting, to say the least. We have to go to work, to soccer practice, to the mall, for the love of God! Same thing with boycotting China. It might work, but we'll never know, because Americans simply won't do it.

Major impact on the economy! You try and NOT buy things from China or any other country but US. You'll go broke and crazy cause it's expensive and rare! The problem are the corporations outsourcing US products oversea for BIGGER profits! Greed and power's ruining the USA!
