The car makes a tapping sound only under load
I thought it was a valve but it seems to be coming from the lower end
could this be a big end bearing ?.
its only when the car is at about 3 thousand rev's.and above
What else could it be ?

Sounds like a crankshaft or connecting rod bearing. Whatever it is, it's not gonna get better...sounds like trade-in time, unless you're in love with the car. I thought Mitsubishis were pretty good cars...same nice people who brought you thr Japanese Zero in WW II...K ;o)

Hey Slick
In order to give you a good diagnosis, please provide the year model and enegine size. Tapping sounds can come from many sources in an engine. I'll be waiting and i will respond
