This may surprise many people, but I should say Lenin. The Germans gave him passage through to Russia for obvious reasons, and he gave them ample satisfaction.
Without Lenin, Russia, as a liberal republic, might have remained in the war, greatly shortening it. Without him there might never have been a Stalin or a Hitler. Of course I agree with other responders that the results of any change in the past would produce unforeseen results. But I do think this is the safest bet.

Hitler is an obvious answer. Tens of millions of people died in World War II due to his aggression and genocide.
His fanaticism, ambition, charisma and oratorical abilities made it possible for his extremist Nazi party to gain power and for him to become the unquestioned leader of that extremist party.
The world would be different had he not existed and perhaps would have been a better place. The people who died unnecessarily may have contributed greatly to the betterment of the human race but of course we’ll never know.

George W Bush Jr. That dweeb will never be as a good a president as his father and his policies are directly responsible for bringing extremists on to the world stage. (Does Osama Bin Ladan ring a bell here???).

Why limit it to just one? I would cancel the life of Paul who made Christianity into a destructive force and many other con men who invented ridiculous gods or demi-gods to take money and gain power, e.g. Moses, Mohammed, Zoroaster, etc.

No one, as the alternative could be worse.
For example, Nazi Germany wasn't created by Hitler alone, but without his interfering during WW2, the Nazis might have won.

Well, originally I was thinking of saying "Hitler," but then I realized that all of the problems of anti-Semitism throughout history would have been better solved by my saying "Jesus." So that would be who I would wipe out of existence.
Can you imagine how much differently the world would have shaped up?
