To me, proprietor sounds like you own a property, is that right? But owner sounds silly. Any suggestions?

I put owner on my items... as funny as it is some people don't know what a proprietor is. Don't get carried away with crazy job titles because in fact it limits you...owner is all encompassing

You would be the proprietor. You would only be a director if you got the company limited (this costs £30 via companies house if you can fill in the application forms yourself - they're not complicated)

Manager, Proprietor, Gen. Manager are all good.

But me, I put Asst. Gen.Manager. In case I can't say no to a client, I always tell them that I would refer it to the manager.

If it's a Proprietorship, not a Corporation, you are the Proprietor.
Nothing wrong with Owner.
