I went off to college but had a miserable time. My miserable time was caused mostly by uncontrollable emotions but few people know this. My mother think it's cause by my ADD/ADHD and wants to send me here: http://www.berkshirecenter.org/index.html
The program is sooo wrong for me for sooo many reasons but no matter what I say including telling her the truth about the past year will change her mind. Helllp, my mom wants me out of her house and in some school (ish) program but this one that I've listed isn't it! How do I find the program that is right for me? Do you know of any like the one I mentioned that I could suggest to my mom? Hellllp!

We were going to work w/ a college counselor but my mom decided she doesn't want to spend the money on one and even if she changed her mind, I need a program by like, next week! It's too late for a college counselor. Please suggest some other ways for me to find the program that is right for me or even better, tell me some that you know of.

Ultimately it is your life not hers and it is your decision where you got with her being merely an advisor.

You have to make it known to her that you are the one who will decide what to do, not her, but that you are willing to discuss things with her.

Though if you don't like that programme you'll probably have a hard time finding one that you and your mum will both like. Though whose uncontrollable emotions caused the problems is something that will matter a lot and you also need to figure out why there were uncontrollable emotions.

You should also to come up with a list of reasons why that programme is wrong for you and an explanation.

At the very least if you can't get out of going where she wants you to go at least make sure you won't be paying anything (your mum sounds like a cheapskate to me, not wanting to pay for a college councillor) which might give you a bit of leverage (although you know your mum better than I do).
