first there is a common principle among thugs.....which is "COver Your Own Butt". So with all the loyalty of rats getting off a sinking ship, that is what they are doing.
Secondly as the other guy said, Vicks fame and public persona have made him the focal point. I don't know if it will make his career, (did not think Johnny Cochrane took the case), but like with Martha Stewarts trial, her being a celeb who refused to yield made her into a bigger target than normal. Vicks actions and attitudes leading up to this likely also helped turn things against him, as he could have made a plea before his "friends" did, and been the one out of the hot-seat. I doubt he chose not to do this out of loyalty, but more likely like most celebs, he was thinking about his PR image.
And, no, I doubt he thinks of them as friends, and they better be in protective custody, cause Vick has the money, and if the allegations are true, the contacts to make them disappears.
Now he has the motivation.

Well, I doubt they felt like friends when Michael Vick walked into the courtroom with an expensive high profile attorney and they were sitting there with their public defenders.
Why are the co-defendents taking plea bargains? Well, first of all, it should be noted that Tony Taylor did NOT get a guarantee of ANY special treatment for his guilty plea. I don't know about these two guys, we'll have to wait until the end of the week to find out. Secondly, the guilty plea of all three co-defendents simply underlines what most of us have been pointing out here in this forum for weeks. The federal prosecutors do NOT prosecute cases that they do not have the evidence to get a conviction. Once the bail hearing was complete, the prosecutors had to offer their evidence to the defending attorneys for what they call 'discovery'. I believe the evidence was so overwhelming, the co-defendents attorneys advised their clients to come clean, because the chances of an innocent verdict with a jury would be nil.
The only reason Michael Vick has not done the same is because an admission of guilt will end his NFL career. He had the most to lose in this situation, and he was the biggest contributor to the situation. What a dumbass.......

Probably because their guilty!! If they go to trial they will do more time. To say they are going after Vick to make a name is a joke. When this is over it will be for gotten about. It was Vicks money that made all this possible. Think about it for a second. When the bust drug dealers they don't care about the guy on the corner they want the top guy, which in this case is Vick.

Why? Maybe because they are all guilty? I just don't understand why someone would care whether or not Michael Vick thinks of his co-defendants as friends. Does it really matter? The fact is all of these guys are idiots...Vick, Pacman and the Bengals (and yes, I know not all the Bengals are bums). These guys have it made and they blow it all on sheer stupidity. The NFL needs to keep tightening the scews and cannot accept this garbage.

Don't know don't care. This has nothing to do with friendships. This was an illegal activity. They got caught. Now its everyman for himself. If Vick had any brains or balls he would have stood up to the goal line like a man admitted his guilt and took his punishment. Don't agree with plea bargains where people are just as guilty as the next guy gets away basically with the crime, but that's how our legal system works.

Because they are guilty. If they go to trial they face the possibility of getting a lot worse sentence. Vick will have to take a deal now, there no one left on his side.

Their attorneys, after having review the state's evidence, including videos of illegal dogfights, evidence of illegal gambling, and other stuff, would make a decision and would advise their clients as to what defense to take.
When the evidence is overwhelming, or if the publicity of a trial would be so ugly and damaging to the client, then an attorney would advise their client to take the plea.

They don't want to end up someone's butt buddy. As for Vick, he can buy all the friends he wants until his money runs out.

Rats deserting the sinking ship. They can't afford the high-priced scumbag lawyers so they have to plea bargain to cut their jail time.
