hi, my name is natalie and i am 12 years old. i am quite small for my age(152cm)and weigh only 73 pounds but am not really skinny. being small has not seemed to have affected my development as i started breast budding at age 9. i then got pubic hair(gross!!!)at age 10 and started my growth spurt at about 11. i now have small boobs and quite alot of pubic hair,sorry to gross you all out, and quite alot of armpit hair, i am now having this weird white discharge and am really concerned it dosent itch or hurt or really smell but what is it??? my mum got her period when she was 12.5 i'm 12.75 please tell me does this all mean that my period is coming???! please give me some answers sooooo confused!

awww dont wory so much! i was like that too!! what that white icky stuff is is called discharge and that means that your period is coming in 6 months to a year! i got mine after 4 montsh! so be prepared and ask your mom to buy you pads just in case! so bring some ini a purse or something because your period is coming ssooonNN! if you need anymore help, just e-mailme at electricbass94@yahoo.com

The white discharge is normal for females and yes it does sound like you are very close to your period given your age, development and the info about your mother. The discharge will continue for the rest of your life, it is natural if it doesn't itch or smell, it is the body's way of cleaning the vagina out, it can also provide lubrication when you have sex but you don't need to be worry about that now. Some women get that quite a long time before their period, with others its closer, but based on the info I would say you should expect your period in the next few months.

There is nothing gross about puberty!
You started at a young age so I would say you may start your periods within the next year.
Just because your mum started at 12.5 doesn't mean you will as well. My mum started at 11, I didn't start until I was 14.
Since you have pubic hair and armpit hair, they are signs that you could possibly be close to beginning your periods.
The white stuff you have in your knickers is vaginal discharge, that is also another sign that you are close to starting your periods, a lot of girls have discharge for around a year before their periods begin, there is nothing wrong with having it and when you start getting lots of it, then your periods should start within the next 3-4 months.
Don't worry if you don't start at the same time as your friends, because we all start to develop at different ages!

I had hair under my arms at 8, budding breasts at 9, hair on my vagina at 10, and discharge when I was 12. I didn't get my period until I was 13 and a half.
Waiting to start your period is extremely exciting and scary. When you get it be prepared for discomfort. Try not to go by the text books because every girl is different.

im turning 13 in november and i just got my period on saturday. i spotted once in june. i recent poll for the usa girls get there period 11-14 on average. 10- yrs ago it was 12-15 and it went down. so thts prettyg good. the sytoms of getting your period is growth spurt, hair, discharge and breast growth and spotting. spotting is when you bleed one time the month before you have youre real period cycle. so you should be having it soon.

That's NORMAL discharge. You will have it for the rest of your life. It keeps your vagina healthy. GENERALLY girls have discharge for about a year before they get their periods.
I think that girls have to weight at least 90 lbs. in order to have a period. Your body has to be able to support a pregnancy and it can't do that if it is too small.
It doesn't matter when your mom got hers. You will get it when your body is ready.

well usually u have to weigh at least 100 pounds so maybe thats whats holding it back i got mine when i was 13 1/2 so yours may come from now to maybe 6 months or even a year. consider yourself lucky because it is not very nice when you get bloody underwear. eww

yeah i think so, it might take another 6months, thats what often happens when you first get discharge, but it does sound like your periods are coming.
