Id suggest you get a 'Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Firewall Router with 4-port 10/100 switch' £49.00 from Amazon. The wireless Netgear WG111 Wireless 54Mbps USB 2.0 Adaptor (you will need this also if you PC is not wifi ready) is £15.50 at Amazon.

You get a free router (the one named above) from AOL for free if you sign up with them, although you'll have to buy the USB adaptor your self. I got one free from AOL and its great, come with a really easy CD installer disc. The lowest priced broadband package they do is called Silver (I'm on that) - £14.99 a month.

If you don't want to go with AOL then whatever router you choose make sure ntl support it as they can give you specific information on how to configure it to your ntl connection.

Good luck.

YesI have cable broadband as well. Use a Philips router and complete with usb. Cost about £48 . Works fine.. Make sure the router you get is suitable for cable.. Not all are.. Several to choose from in PC World.

Wirless routers cost from Rs.2500 to Rs.15000.
It depends on your requirment to choose a wireless router. There are a number of companies manufacturing wireless routers, Ex: Linksys, Netgear, D-Link.
I would suggest D-Link DSL-2640T wireless router which works with major ISPs in India (Airtel, MTNL & BSNL), providing wireless connectivity to upto 32 devices simultaneously, and 4 wired connections using RH-45 ethernet cable. Cost of this router is Rs.4,900.

That varies greatly depending on the wireless standard. For example routers that work off of the 802.11b standard will cost less than those routers that work off of the 802.11g standard. It all depends on how large of a range you need to cover for your wireless network, and what speed you require.

To find prices, I usually use http://www.pricewatch.com/ to find the cheapest, though you might also want to try amazon.com as well just to make sure you aren't paying too much.

You get what you pay for. Examples in link, but around $60 to $120 I assume you have a high speed internet link to your residence that the router will be connected to.

Try Amazon.com for new, used and refurbished prices. Also try eBay..probably get one for 20.00.
Not alot of people know abou this website but I use it frequently..www.goodwillonline.com. They always have wireless routers up for bid and most of the time they are new in the box.
If nothing else fails you can always go to Walmart for about 70 bucks.

From $40 on up to as much as you are willing to pay. Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, probably Staples and Office Depot. Ify ou buy online, you will pay shipping, and usually local prices are comparable to online + shipping prices. NewEgg, Buy.com. Tiger Direct, Global, etc., are all reputable online stores.
