quickly remove my foot from my shoe because it would most likely be my shoe that was keeping my foot stuck.

I don't get why people walk onto the tracks in the first place. Maybe from the person's point of view the train doesn't look like it's approaching as fast as it actually is. Electric trains operate very quietly compared to diesel and old steam, and passenger trains are quieter than freight for the comfort of the passengers, so someone on the tracks might not hear the train until it's too late. It is very sad and unfortunate. And The Sausage Prince is right, kids in NYC ride on top of subway cars and get killed there. Two students at my college, several years before I started at that college, were drunk, and climbed on top of the subway car (6 train). The train passed something hanging low in the tunnel, one was killed instantly and the other died later that night in the hospital. It's very unfortunate, very sad, but it happens.

I would scream for help and see if anybody came. If no came then I would try to get the conductor to stop the train. If that didn't work then I'd try to cut my foot off 'cause that would probably save my life. And finally if I couldn't cut my foot off I would just let the train hit me. =|-
