it depends on where you are, but yes, it is quite spread out, especially in comparison to many of the other moderates. the good news is all of the 'islands' have their own bus stop, quiet pool and laundry. quite a few also have playgrounds. one of which is jamaica which is my choice for non-preferred rooms. it's just a brief walk across the bridge and caribbean cay to get to old port royale. it also is usually the first stop to be dropped off when the buses return to the resort, although that also depends on the route the bus takes as there are a couple of different entrances.

To sum up this resort. . .it's pretty spread out, but the numerous bus stops make it easier to get around. You could even hop a bus to get to another area of the resort, not just to get to the parks, if you really didn't want to walk. Some of the buildings are closer than others to bus stops, so that might be something to ask about. But the best advice I heard before I went to the CBR was to ask for a room close to the food court/pool area--which is an up-grade. When I made my reservation I was told these rooms were all reserved so I just asked if we could have a room as close as possible to the up-graded rooms and the Disney rep said "Sure!". Our room was right across the tiny island from the food court and it was maybe a 3 minute walk. Not to mention the landscaping is beautiful so you have a lovely view while your walking. And the resorts size makes it seem very private which is a huge plus. I think that with a little careful planning, anyone would love it. I did!

It really depends on what you consider to be big. The resort is large and split into the different islands. The bus really helps so you can get around a lot easier.
Compared with the other moderate resorts it is much larger. For the most part 10 minutes will get you to where ever you would need to go.
I don't really think that the ten minute walk is the problem for most people (although for some it can be quite hard to handle). The problem is really that the resort is so large and if you plan to do parks it can make that 10 minute walk seem much worse. If you decide to walk to get where you need to go in the morning, before the parks, it usually isn't a big deal. But, if you walk after the parks, that 10 minute walk can be a lot more uncomfortable and seem a lot longer.
Each person is going to be different, to me it really isn't a problem at all, but for most people paying a little extra to get the preferred room is worth it. If you are young, active, don't mind walking (even after a long day in the parks) it isn't going to be a problem. If you are a little older, have any healt problems, aren't able to walk long distances or walk all day, another resort or a preferred room may be the way to go.
Hope this helps!

Hello!
I myself think the place is a bit big (i've stayed there a few times), but its really your opinion. The resort is split up into several sections (all named after caribbean islands), and they have an internal bus system.
You can walk wherever you'd like pretty quickly, but the main thing I dislike is the bus system. For the parks, the buses stop at each island (which can take up a lot of time) and if its at night and you're having to stand on the bus, its not fun to have to wait even longer. Of course after you get off the bus you may or may not have a long walk to your room, it all depends where you stay.
I like the atmosphere of the resort, and walking around it is nice, but if you're staying there for a week or so, the extra walking will start to add up. For some people its not a problem, but some people rather have a short walk to save energy (and foot pains). You can book preferred rooms that are closer to various things, but as expected they'll cost you a bit extra.
Aside from the layout of the resort, I think its fairly nice. I like their main building and their food court more compared to some of the resorts, but the pool didn't impress me. For some people it isn't a big deal, but Port Orleans: Riverside and Coronado Springs both have bigger pools and longer water slides (Coronado having the second longest of the resorts, with Yacht/Beach having the longest if I remember correctly).
Have fun :)

It's a very large resort, and the rooms can be quite a ways from the main lobby -- much further than a quarter mile. In fact, Caribbean Beach actually has its own bus system, which carries resort guests to the various sections.
Basically, you won't have to walk very far because you can always hop the bus, but don't count on being close to the main lobby because that's unlikely.

It's just that it's spread out. But seriously, when you're walking around it, it's not that big of a deal. And the shuttles stop at a few places, and still only take a few minutes. It's one of my favorite places to stay inside Disney, and I've stayed at a WIDE variety from economy to high end. I really think it's nice. I mean, if walking is a serious issue for you, then maybe rethink it. But I'm going to say most average people would not mind the walk to your room and back. Plus it makes it nicer spread out, not as crowded feeling.

we have stayed there a couple of times and its great. Its split into island blocks we stayed in Jamaica just a 10 min stroll over the bridge from the main food court and hotel shops. It has its own pool in the area which dosn't get to crowded .there is a main pool near the food court.outside near the main building you can enjoy a drink at night and watch the fireworks at Epcot.Their is a bus stop just at the edge of the Jamaica block so you dont have to walk to the main building when catching one.all in all a very good hotel
have a nice stay

Its somewhat a funky reasonable motel. you sense like your on an island. The buses stop usually on the motel. Its not complicated in any respect. The bus stops on the motel, takes you to the Park of your decision. purely watch the signs and indicators on the front of the bus. It says the holiday spot on it for sure. Coming lower back to the motel, theres frequently a line of human beings waiting for the bus. Get used to waiting my chum. Theres constantly a line to attend on someplace!! under is a link to the motel domicile.

Hi,
The Hotel is quite big and is split into sections. Barbadoes, Jamica etc all named after Carribean Islands.
Disney do provide free transportation around their resorts and to and from the parks.
I have never stayed here but went through it once on the free bus so know the buses exist. My daughter's friend stayed here twice and loved it.
Enjoy your holiday.
Sarah.
