Well it seems that you've got plenty of correct answers. Just to help you. You mentioned that you new that the percentage increase would be 100% if you were to increase it from 65 to 130, so just apply the same rule to 120.

So 65 has been increased by another 65. 65 divided by 65 = 1. Multiply by 100 gives you 100%. In this case, however, 65 has been increased by 55 so just apply the same rule.

Easy huh!

The actual increase you need is 120 - 65 = 55, so the

question is asking you to express 55 as a %age of 65. As a

fractional increase, this is 55/65, and you now have to

express this as a %age, which you do by multiplying 55/65 by

100:

55/65 x 100

=84.62%, correct to 2 d.p. Hope this helps, Twiggy.

(55/65)*100
=84.61538462

Hiya!

Actual increase is 120-65 = 55

Percentages are found by dividing increase by original number & multiplying by 100.

55/65x100 = 84.6153846 etc

Therefore the percentage increase is approx. 84.615%; the exact figure being 84 8/13 %.

To get from 65 to 120......

120 / 65 = 1.846

1.846 * 100% = 184.6 % increase
(From your point of view you are not counting the original number, so it is an 84.6% increase!)
