This is solved by a system of equations...

Let x = adult tickets
Let y = child tickets

x + y = 90
5x + 3y = 320

(You can use either the substitution method or the addition method. I'll use substitution because of the ease...)

x + y = 90, so y = 90 - x, substitute...

5x + 3(90-x) = 320
5x + 270 - 3x = 320
2x + 270 = 320
2x = 50
x = 25

Put x=25 back into either original problem (the first one being obviously easier)...

25 + y = 90
y = 65

25 adult tickets, 65 child tickets. Check it...

5(25) + 3(65) ?= 320
125 + 195 = 320, which checks out.

if there are x adults the number of children is 90-x
so x adults pay 5x £ and (90-x) chidren pay (90-x)*3 £

you can write 5x+(90-x)3 =320
5x-3x+270 =320
2x=320-270 =50 x=25
so 25 adults and 90-25 =65 children

Proof 65*3+25*5 = 195+125 =320

formula is (90-x)5 + 3x =320, x being no. of children
450 - 5x + 2x = 320,
450 - 2x = 320,
450 - 320 = 2x
therefore x = 65 children who paid 3 pounds each and 25 adults who paid 5 pounds each. Total 320 pounds.

Ratio form is 5:3
Let the ratio nos. be 5x and 3x
Their sum = 8x = 320
So x = 320/8 = 40
So 5x = 5*40=200
And 3x = 3*40=120
Child's ticket = 3 pounds
So no.of kids = 120/3 40
Adults ticket = 5 pounds
So no. of adults = 200/5 = 40 adults

Plz plz plz gimme best answer for all this............I've answered so many other questions like this n Ive never got best answer for it even though my answers were more detailed than the others n @ skool the teachers never appreciate how I got the answers right even when Im the only 1 who got the right answer...........pleeeeeeeeeez gimme best answer

let
x = adult
90 -x = child
thus
320 = 5*x + 3*(90-x)
320 = 5x + 270 - 3x
2x = 50
x = 25
thus
adult = 25
childer = 90-25 = 65

x = adults , 90 - x = kids

(x)(5) + (90-x)(3) = 320
5x + 270 - 3x = 320
5x - 3x = 320 - 270
2x = 50
x= 50 / 2
x = 25, 25 adults
90 - x = 65. 65 kids

Let x be the number of people that bought an adult ticket, y be the number of people that bought a child ticket. We have
x+y=90 (total number of tickets is 90)
5x+3y=320
These are simultaneous equations, which you can solve by substitution or elimination (and which you should do by yourself, although someone will probably post a full solution).
Good luck with it.
