I am a meat eater and have been in such a situation.
My sister had decided when we were younger to become a vegetarian. One day, our mom had taken us to Burger King. On the way home as I was eating my burger, my sister (she had got a salad), starting giving me crap about eating meat. She was making "moo" sounds and telling me how horribly the cow died and such. About half way home, I got so annoyed by it that I picked off a piece of the patty and threw it back at her face. She was screaming the rest of the way home. However, she's no longer a vegetarian.
Point of the story, if people what to be a vegetarian, then that's their choice and I respect that, so long as they don't try to impose their beliefs on me.

Yes. There are a lot of vegans and vegetarians in this area, and I've had them criticize me on occasion. One told me that I couldn't remain a Christian and continue eating meat. Another kept telling me stories about what happens in slaughterhouses while I ate a steak. I do not in any way criticize their choice to abstain from meat.

I've always maintained its a matter of preference, whether the person is a meat eater, or vegetarian.
I eat meat..and I have very respectable conversations with vegetarians. We understand our preferences on it.
I've never justified my preferences to anyone. They're my preferences, either deal with it, or don't bug me..is basically my view.

yes. because i am currently practising yoga (just started about three weeks ago), and most of my friends were like so you'd have to give up meat or else yoga would be completely pointless for you. so i was like no, that would defeat the first principle of yama (which is ahimsa or non-harming to self and others). then came to a point where they called someone who was an authority on yoga and asked me why i was doing yoga and telling me i cannot practice yoga if i cannot give up meat so that was life-threatening and upsetting, too.
