Hi there... It can be scary the first time especially if you are nervous and are a virgin. Both of my daughters were very scared. I made sure to make appointments with women doctors so they weren't embarassed and asked them if they wanted me in the room or not. Also try as much as possible to relax and take deep breaths. Let the doc know it is your first pap so they can be more sensitive and gentle...but it doesn't hurt. It will sting a little bit when they do the smear and you may spot a little bit but they will use loads of gel to make sure when they do the test, it doesn't pull or hurt. They will let you know when you will feel a little bit of pressure when doing the culture. If you try to relax, it will make it so much better.
TIP: If you want to close your eyes and pretend you are on a beach in a hammock and having a nice time so your mind isn't focused on the test then it can be on a scale of 1 as you are enjoying yourself (or whatever you find relaxing). Good luck and don't let your fear keep you from getting one if you are old enough and need too! :)

It can be painful if one is tense because of being nervous (please try to relax), if the doctor is too rough, or if something is wrong such as with an infection.

The exam itself as far as the pelvic part of it where they check your uterus and ovaries shouldn't hurt but it can for the reasons mentioned above so please let the doctor know if you have any pain.

It's ok to be a bit scared and let the doctor know this. You can even talk to the doctor in plainclothes first before any of this happens so that they can take time to answer any questions you have. Also, a really good doctor will explain everything they are doing as they do it.

As for a scale of 1-10 for pain with 10 being the worst if any pain it should only be about a 2 unless something is wrong. The doctor will let you know if there is anything wrong.

A pap smear is not painful at all. Laying there on the table can be uncomfortable...knowing that a stranger is down there doing whatever it is that she does. After it is over though, you will be like "thats it?". If I had to say on a scale of 1 to 10 (thinking back to when I was 15 and had my first), I would say maybe a 2. Its about as painful as inserting a tampon. Talk to your girl friends about it. I am sure atleast one of them has had one.

On a scale of 1-10, I give a smear zero, maybe 0.5. There is absolutely nothing whatsoever to be scared of. It's a standard very important thing that millions of women have done every year. It feels a tiny bit strange but that's it, literally. The worst thing you can do is to worry about it because then you'll tense up and make it uncomfortable for yourself. Google it and see what actually happens then you'll see it's nothing to worry about.

no its not painful.. when you go for your normal check up at the GYN.. they observe the area, take a metal dialator (looks like 2 spoons fixed together) to widen the vaginal canal so they can examine inside.. make sure your goodies are ok. the the doc then takes a long huge qtip and wipes around by the cervix (feels funny but doesn't hurt). may use a few qtips... buts that's it. make sure u go there every 6 months to a year :) u'll be ok. oh yeah.. on a scale of pain 0. unless u got some serious std issues goin on.. then maybe some pain i guess

ok, before u go take some pain relievers, at least a half hour before and maybe one when u get there. Then it wont be so painful. But on the scale for me its like a 5 but the pain last for about 10 seconds, this is when they get the samples from ur uteris. Not very comfortable at all though. just remember pain relievers!

It's not really a pain, it's more of just an uncomfortable pressure. There could be pain when the speculum goes in (the duck bill thing that spreads you open), I would rate it as 3.5 at the most, the easiest one I ever had would have been a 1.

ok ... you a minimum of have some thing to base it on, being your 2d toddler. :) yet so a procedures as your question, particularly everyone seems to be diverse! I balk on the solutions human beings provide on occasion approximately childbirth discomfort - with the aid of fact, particularly, somebody who has in no way experienced it in the previous is basing their finished theory approximately it on somebody else's adventure, which isn't probably truthful. there is not any longer something incorrect with experiencing discomfort in childbirth - in spite of everything, that's 'discomfort with a purpose.' It ability you're a latest, lively participant on your infant's beginning, no longer basically mendacity there being instructed to push, etc. Granted, in case you like an epi and discover the discomfort unmanageable, you may desire to have the skill to get discomfort meds - yet i think of a few human beings take it over the precise whilst they say stupid issues like "you won't be able to furnish beginning without an epidural!" this is crap, incredibly. I actual have heard that a waterbirth can very much shrink discomfort in exertions. probability is that in case you have extra advantageous mobility and freedom of flow to pee, replace positions, etc. that's going to likely be less difficult for you. Google Gisele Bundchen and her recent abode waterbirth and it may desire to furnish you effectual advice. I had a VBAC and basically had a 0.5-dose of Nubain, which I felt grow to be incredibly valueless - I felt each and every thing. I do keep in mind thinking midway by exertions, "it particularly is not that undesirable." On a scale of a million-10? i do no longer even keep in mind - this is the magic of childbirth. LOL with the ability to alter positions, push in diverse positions (fairly than flat on your returned, that's terrible) could show you how to alleviate the discomfort without drugs. Having a focal element or exertions doula can help distract you from the discomfort besides. in case you have damaging thoughts with reference to the variety to't do it, how undesirable it particularly is, etc. piped in from each and every course you're enjoying into those fears and letting it take over. shop an open ideas and spot what occurs. I guess you will do super!

It's not painful at all. It takes all of about 30 seconds. You may feel one tiny little cramp, but that's about it....if you're doctor's good you won't even feel that.
People that say it hurts are either unbelievably sensitive or just like to complain a lot. You have nothing to be afraid of, like I said, 30 seconds at best.
