You're going to have to re-train your body and this could take time. Every night, lay down like a half hour early for say a week and when it becomes easier for you to fall asleep this much earlier, the next week try another half hour earlier (totaling an hour earlier from the original time) continue to do this until you cant fall asleep any earlier or until your desired bed time.
You can also create a wind down routine...like every night before bed read a few pages of a book, bursh your teeth, lay down, watch tv for a few minutes, then go to bed. Your body will become accustomed to knowing these things all lead up to bed time and it may help your body by having a rountine.
Also dont drink any caffeine at least 3 hours (even more if possible) before your bed time. As we all know, caffeine can keep you awake.

OMG! finally someone knows how i feel! i'm hooomme!
lol k i doubt i'm the right person to be answering this and this might sound kinda too wild but u could try to stay awake the whole night n by the next day u'll definitely be in bed on time.. if not that then u could just go to bed reeeaally late n FORCE urself to wake up real early and be active throughout the day.. that would surely get u in bed on time =D

Well you could have insomnia. I also see ads on TV for this type of situation -- Ambien, for one. Try doing personalizing a search for it on Google and I'm sure you'll be successful. Try assessing your life in general. Is there anything that has made you overly anxious that you can't go to sleep? Not everyone lucky with relaxation techniques, I think -- that or they're not doing it right. Either way, I suggest going to the doctor for a more thorough examination and perhaps prescription. Good luck!

First dont lay down untill you are absolutly tired. This always helps me because I stress out about how much sleep I get. Also I read in a magazine if you take a warm bath an hour before you go to bed & relax untill you laydown was just as effective as women who took sleeping pills. Hope this helped.

Hi Crystal... I am still up because my sleep/wake routine is also messed up.

You can try a cup of warm milk. I have heard that helps a person to fall asleep.

What I will do when I finally go to bed is to clear my mind of all the mental chatter. It's the mental chatter that keeps me awake.

It's like meditating. You need to focus on something like your breathing or a sound to clear your mind and stop the mental chatter in your head. Don't think of anything else just your breathing or the sound. If thoughts pop into your head, just go back to focusing on your breath or the sound. Soon you will fall asleep. It works for me.

Good luck!

I have the same problem too now, since school is out ,I wake up in the afternoon. But whenever I go out to excerise or whatever I sleep early, and as a result I wake up earlier. Or you can drink Nyquil once in a while, but I recommend you just get a lot of excercise.

I had lots of problems with insomnia... couldn't figure out why one day I'd be fine, and another day I'd be awake at 2 in the morning, tossing and turning.

For me, my insomnia was (and sometimes still is) caused by eating salicylates and/or glutamates. These are naturally occurring substances found in many "healthy" foods.

Try an elimination diet, to see if your insomnia is related to diet.

http://www.cs.nsw.gov.au/rpa/Allergy/default.htm is the site of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital's allergy and food intolerance clinic (in Australia). Just have a browse around, especially under the headings of "allergy", "food intolerance" and "elimination diet".

http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info is the site of the FAILSAFE diet, by Sue Dengate, which is the diet that my family and I went on. The FAILSAFE diet is based on many of the findings of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Good luck!

u must mention your age. if it is old age this can happen because u sleep in the after noon and don't go for walk to get tired. if u r young:
1. exercise regularly in the morning

2. stop eating junk food take nutritious food

3. go for long evening walk

4. don't over eat at night/light food

5.during day drink not of water

the idea is tire your self and try to go to bed early, no late night TV/music

I recently bought a bottle of "Sleep-Max Sleep Aid PM with Melatonin" from Walgreens. One capsule a night puts me to sleep pretty quickly, and I wake up feeling refreshed. But beware of extremely lucid dreams!
