Well our government (US) seems to think, and has stated, that the war on terror is a war that may never be won.

The perfect thing for the Govt.'s involved is that they are a fighting an enemy you cant see, and the more the Govt. responds to terrrorism the more terrrorists they breed.
End result govt.'s can continue to erode civil liberties (in the UK 2 days ago a White, female first yr anthropology student was arrested for cycling near Heathrow Airport as part of a demostration against Aeroplane Emissions and held for 30 hours, without access to a phone to inform her family! under the terrorism act)
And they can spend more and more money on big boys toys, which most govt. officials hold stocks and shares in. Perfect.

Once the leaders of the western world redefine 'world peace', it will subside, with some sort of declaration of victory that does not satisfy the concept of being at war with an ideology.
If we can only trivialize the murderous impulses of a mass of peoples, within each of their lives with some form of work/reward system or a drama of some kind.

The war on terror will never stop. There's too much money in it. The American government wants to establish itself as head state on the planet, while it still can. That chance will soon be gone. We will all have to pressure our governments to prepare our nations to defend against the planet's biggest terrorist; Bush.

In the UK Enoch Powell predicted all this years ago and was castigated by the do gooders for speaking out and sacked from holding government by the then idiot PM Edward Heath. That is why the UK got into this mess and it is probably much the same in Aussie?
Prior to then, we stopped terrorism together (viz. UK & US & Aussies fighting together) by taking the Third Reich and Jap imperialism on with everything we'd got and hitting them as hard as we could.. Not by allowing Hitler's SS elite to come into our country take over our jobs and then all be protected by Human Rights laws so as not to be sent back to face their just deserts because they might be tortured!
The only way to defeat the new Nazis or "Taliban" or whatever other name they now call their wicked ideology is to take them on too with everything we've got and abolish stupid legislation like the Human Rights Act which currently protects terrorisms survival against us all. As Chamberlain discovered appeasement does not work and NEVER WILL WORK?
In 1940, once we learnt that lesson we eventually defeated the terrorism of the Third Reich and in Far East and gave both the German and Japanese people true freedom and democracy, which they continue to enjoy today. Similarly instead of more appeasement, the evil ideology now poisoning young minds in Pakistan/Afghanistan etc. as well as in our own nations needs to be exterminated ruthlessly and totally with as much force as necessary. Only then will the modern war on terror be won just as it was on VE day and VJ day in 1945.

nicotine, you assume all terrorists are muslims. While a large number of them are, there have always been terrorists once we started living in the modern world. The war of terror ends when the end of the world comes, so for the libs out there, why not let global warming happen and then the war on terror ends.
