FOund a ransom viri and have problems?

so I heard about this virus encrypting files and holding them for ransom for 300 US $

So I emailed them to let them know what I think.

then I recieved pop up windows emmediately that I've never recieved before.

doesn't make sense to me since its web based email.

any one have more info on it or why I recieved malware pop ups?

I'm already running a scan........ so if you could shed more light it would be accepted.

This is not a virus problem, it is a spyware problem. And don't use Symantec, use something else like Spybot S&D.
