It is a fallacy to say that we have enjoyed 'much peace so far' since WW2. In fact, ever since that war ended that has been conflict some where in the world. Major conflicts have included Korea, the Six Day and Yom Kippur Wars, Vietnam, the two Gulf Wars and now Iraq and Afghanistan. YOU can add to these thousands of 'little wars' which have gone on for days or decades. Just think of Darfur. Perhaps they don't affect people outside the conflict zones as much - no rationing (except, occasionally, of petrol/gas), but if you are involved they are just as traumatic. Try and get hold of Niall Ferguson's book 'The Age of Hatred' to get a proper perspective on the last 70 years or so.

Well that depends on what part of the world you're talking about.
Because there's always places that have had wars. And as far as some parts of the world are concerned they haven't seen peace for years and maybe never have.
Well like I said it depends on who you're talking about.
