I just bought a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee and all the lug nuts are different sizes. I have to use 4 different sockets to get them all off. So I'm trying to get 20 new lug nuts that match so the car will look better and so it will make life easier for anyone who changes a tire. When I ask most of the auto parts stores near me don't have any, and the ones that do only have a few. I have a hard time beleiving that these should be so hard to come by! Are lugs nuts really completely different sizes for every car because this really seems ridiculous! Help me out here if you know about this.

Who knows is right. This isn't right. All of the lugs and nuts were the same when the vehicle was new. I hate to think what else might have been done to the vehicle if the previous owner was so sloppy as to replace lugs with different sizes. It takes some serious abuse to damage lugs enough to require replacement.

Correct replacement parts aren't that expensive, if you are just replacing a lug and nut. You need to have a professional check out the wheels to see what other damage may have been done to them that required replacement of lugs.

The reason most auto parts stores don't have a full set of lug nuts is: That part doesn't usually require replacement and only occasionally is someone unlucky enough to lose a lug nut.

It doesn't sound right but I'm not sure if ti comes from the factory like that. Since you have diffrent size lugs you have diffrent size studs which can be a headache trying to replace. It sounds to me that who ever owned the car before damaged the studs and had to tap and dye them out to replace. but 4 diffrent sizes sounds kinda excessive.

Autoparts stores should be able to order them for you if the studs are uniform or take the cheaper route and call salvage yards. A 99 has probably been totaled out in your area and all the lugs should be available

a complete matching set should not be an issue, as long as all of the studs also match, you can get a complete set or build up to one at least at most shops like pep boys.
