I was thinking about upgrading to a Direct tv satellite dish and was wanting some opinions. Are they worth the money? This website http://www.directtvsatellitedishesreview.com. has some information on them and they seem pretty good.

GOOD QUESTION!

I have been an independent professional home theater designer and installer for nearly 20 years.

DirecTV rocks. Sooooo much better than cable tv! Actually the comparison is unfair. Cable has so much inconsistency from channel to channel, both in sound and picture, whereas Satellite (DirecTV in particular) has super-clean audion/video on ALL channels!

AND, the satellite technology is capable of delivering many more HD channels than cable ever will (for the foreseeable future - that is, until HD over IP is worked out...)

Get DirecTV, you wont regret it - dollar for dollar, its a much better value than cable!

Satellite television is hugely popular in America as well as in other civilized countries around the world. There are many benefits to having satellite TV , it's not just a case of there always being something to watch , although this is one of the main attractions for many people. However, satellite TV is also the source of a great deal of information, which can be used for education as well as entertainment.

Its ok. One thing I HATE is when you have snow or rain storm and it loses the signal....sometimes I'll be right in the middle of taping a movie....a baby thunderstorm drives up and presto....no tv for anywhere from a few seconds to half an hr. lots of people will say this only happens cuz its not aligned correctly but thats not true....I have live all over the US & had it pro installed (plus I know how to do it myself as well) and sadly this is just part of the fun of owning one. (If you live in places like AZ it can also happen on extreme sunny days)

Directtv was good. I cancelled mine and switched to Time Warner Cable only because my girlfriend works for Time Warner and so we get our cable for free. Since I wasn't with Directtv for a 2 full years, they took $250.00 out of my debit card they had on file, as a penalty fee, without my permission. They said they had the authority to do this since they had my card number. They asked me to review the initial paperwork with the microscopic wording, that said that could be done. That really pissed me off. Other than that, I didn't have any issues with Directv
