I agree with rushr. Sometimes laughter for no apparent reason really does have a reason like remembering something humorous. Many times this is triggered by a visual or audio stimulation. Otherwise the individual may indeed be insane, or at least I hope I'm not! LLACLFNR.

I do that sometimes. I have a reason, I just don't care to share it. :)
Really, it's kind of embarrassing. Sometimes something just strikes me funny, and I can't help myself for some reason. Once when I was at work, I was carrying this giant roll of bubble wrap and all of a sudden I got this image in my head--the bubble wrap was a snowman and I was wrestling it. It was so funny to me and I was seriously hysterical. I told someone what was so funny and they didn't get it. So, sometimes I just keep it to myself.

If you know this person, you might want to read up on schizophrenia and become knowledgable on it. If the person just doesnt "seem right" the schizo may apply. There may be lesser but still related illnesses to schizophrenia that you might read up on.
Some ppl laugh inappropriately at very serious things to avoid dealing with these things. Learning of someone's grief of the death of their loved one or other situations that bring on laughter is a very strong indicator that the person is not at all in touch with their feelings.
Also, consider the schizophrenia.

Ok ok ok.....I agreee with everyone here in answering your question. Now I think I should introduce this, who can tell maybe that person for some spliting minutes has stepped into a funny zone much like the light zone or the outer-limits.....hahahahahaha

They probably just remembered something funny that happened. I have a friend that does it alot. Ask them what their laughing at and maybe you'll get a laugh out of it too.

either they are indeed a nut case ( yes that is the technical term we use in the funny farm for the wack jobs) or the little man on their shoulder that only they can see is telling them a really good joke that involves three strange characters walking into bar.
