ok the more open program you have going at once the more deman on your memory now how much memory you can have depends entirely on what your motherboard can support for example my old hp pavilion had two slots for memory and i pput a 512 mb upgrade in to it but the motherboard could only recognise 340 someodd mgabytes total the newer computers can generally take up to 4 gigs some go up to 8 (expensive boards with gaming and graphic art in mind) memory works best in even pairs for example it is more efficient for the computer to take 2 256mg simms as opposed to a single 512 thers more now as ive been also different computers take different types of memory at different buss speeds you need to stay in your computers speed range for best performance deleteing software and shutting down running programs that are not essential is an option but not a desirable one its what i used to do as a gamer though

You can do that or you can buy and install a bigger hard drive. But what you are referring to is disk space.. Memory is a whole different that deals with the speed of your computer.

do you need memory or hard drive space?
for either one you can go to web sites like www.newegg.com and purchase more memory or an external hard drive. make sure you do some research as to what is compatable with your computer, as to not all hard drives will hook up, and not all memory sticks will fit, pm me if you need more help, im more then willing to give you a hand

There is a difference between Hard Drive space, and Memory.
If you need space to store stuff, you need a bigger hard drive.
If you need more Memory, you need more RAM (which is mostly likely what you need).
2GB or 4Gb should do the trick.

if you are talking about the ram... you need to buy ram memory to upgrade you pc, you must check your pc memory compatibility. but if you are talking about your rom, or your memory or capacity for files storage, you have to buy a new hard disk drive to increase your storage capacity...
