Who do you think has it more difficult in a situation dealing with a rude, harsh, judgmental, or just downright unsavory person or people?

Men or women? And why? Please give me your honest opinion and some examples. Best answer goes to the most informative answer.

I'd say women for the obvious reasons, but you have to think about some men too.

The quiet, more shy, passive, peaceful, non-violent men have to go through quite a lot. Catty girls are just as bad to men, they can easily scapegoat them for the smallest things and just have a general "ewww" attitude towards them, and men always want to duke it out, that's not too pleasant either. So I'm not saying men have it harder, but they got their problems too in my opinion.

Women, because we have to deal with
rude harsh Men and crazy catty jealous
women too.
Men somehow know how to get along,
A woman can hate a woman the moment
she meets her, just because the other
woman is skinny, has more money, has a
better car, has a cute boyfriend, a better
job, bigger boobs, etc.
A man can be harsh and rude to a woman
just because he feels superior or has a
huge ego, she wont sleep with him, she
has a better job, etc.
So in my opinion, woman. :~)

Don't think it is gender linked. It is individuals. However if I MUST generalize, then it is easier as a woman to deal with other women than for a man to. I have found that women tend to be less confrontational, woman to woman and they move more quickly into 'middle' ground by talking so that you can resolve the issue. Except when very young children are also involved. Then run and hide whatever sex you are. No, joking arrange for the children to go to grannies before the meeting.

As a women dealing with men in crisis, it falls more distinctly into three groups; The first group back down with humour and a light touch. A situation is easily defused and agreement quickly reached. They generally then help you defuse the situation with others. They 'look after you' as a woman.

The second group tend to bite back more, as a woman you can only stand your ground and 'mentally' push back. Most men in this second group kick off big style, sometimes physically kicking everyday objects, then they calm down as you talk them through it. So as you are being calm and reasonable, they become calm ..... eventually.

The third group of men, and in my experience it is a small group, no matter how you try to defuse the situation or be calm yourself they resent you. Made more difficult for some men in this group when they are being 'bossed around' by a woman.

This is the real group you have to stand firm to, no matter how 'hairy' things get. Staying calm but also being very aware of escape exits and both your own and their body language. Standing tall and using the broken record technique (repeating calmly the same message over and over again) usually there are drugs or alcohol involved when it gets to this stage. If things get really heavy a woman can start outrageously flirting here, that sometimes diffuses it. I have always got away with difficult situations in the real world and have never been hit. I think if I was a man I probably would have been. Lol.

I think a man can deal with unsavory people better simply because they are less emotional. A woman could be more sensitive & take it more personally.

My husband works in construction. There are men in that field there who insult you in a very personal, crude way. My husband handles it, well, like a man working construction. If someone were to speak to me like that, I'd be destroyed.

Women can be cruel, but it is in a more off-hand way. It's a more of a mind game that leaves you guessing, "Did she just insult me? I'm not sure."

Men and women are just different.

I don't think it could be soley defined as a gender issue...

I think it is more based on personality, ie. Melancholy people, artistic, musical, are generally more sensitive (please note this is a big generalisation however the more likely of the 4 groups and then some people are mixes of other personalities etc...) and they would be more likely to find it difficult...

I am a woman, and I deal with rude, harsh, judgemental people everyday, I still get my job done and done well.

I don't think it is a gender issue...

Foul, rude, hypocritical, conceited people. My dad, brother, mother, sister, "Christians", politicians, lawyers, rapists, child molesters, liars, traitors, cowards, and thieves.
Here's an example: When my parents are in a public place or at a new persons house, friends home, they cannot go the entire day with a racial slur or something involving hatred.
My brother, he's a cross dresser and married, he was kicked out of the military on on hardship discharge for whining and laziness, but he tells everyone that he's a "Christian", a former P.O.W., a war hero, and he compares his life to that in the events of action movies.
My sister, hates blacks and bad mouths them at every turn. But has sex with them for money. Hates the welfare system and it's recipients, but she's on welfare herself. Makes fun of obese people, yet she is obese too.
Most "Christians" we know, put us down for not going to church, for not giving into their little gossip groups and then tell everyone how well their going to have it in Heaven while we burn in hell.
