Do I need professional pictures to submit to an agent, if I'm 14? Do you have any tips for taking them myself? Thanks

Yes you need professional headshots. You do NOT need a portfolio for acting. For submitting to agents, 1 good shot will suffice. If it's not professional looking it's more likely to get tossed in the trash. Snapshots are accepted for babies, small children and begining models with no experience, but not teen actors. Find a photog who does actor headshots specifically, not a photog that you have to explain to them what you want.

For examples, go to www.workingactor.com, click on actors, then marketing, then photographers and check out the ones with websites. Most of them have examples of their headshot work with actors and many have prices listed.

You just don need pictures you will need a portfolio. For that you will have to go to a photographer or request a friend to take shots of you from various angles and in various kinds of attires and diffrent hairstlyles.
