I'm finishing my basement and adding a wet bar just out side the bathroom so that the water supply and drain would be easier to do. There is a 2" pipe that extends from the floor. I believe that the shower drain is connected to this this pipe. Can I connect to this pipe for my wet bar drain? I just had it inspected and the building inspector said that it is not vented properly. The wet bar is about 8 away from the sink and I think he said that a new vent is needed. How shall I do this?

I want to assume he meant the Toilet isn't vented properly. Or rather the sewage drain line, which the sink also flows into.

With all due respect I see the words "Can I" all the time here; and my standard answer is usually; "Certainly"

Should you? or Will you be OK with the result? Is something only you can determine. I think I'd probably have asked, (perhaps you did?) What exactly IS PROPER, then proceed.

The wet bar sink should have the same plumbing config. as the bathroom sink... a "P" trap from the down drain, to the eventual drain. Perhaps the inspectors notion was too much on one vent?

Certainly you could hold off and do it later I guess; but if a final inspection hasn't cleared you, then you may be stuck for awhile until the issue is resolved. Obviously many people do AFTER stuff discreetly; but I think; especially for a basement toilet system/ venting plumbing; I'd want to know that it was correct; and might never back up gases etc. into the newly finished basement.

you could, this is called an indirect waste for the drain is not physically connected to the floor drain. the issue here is splashing water, due to the amount of water being drained. for your application, floor sinks are generally installed to handle the drain load and eliminate splashing. do keep inmind a physical air break must be use which simply means the wet bar drain must not be submerged into the floor drain -
