www.dictionary.com
Great because it gives you several other dictionary's takes on the word. Good for the origin of the word as well. Also gives you the source citation at the click of a mouse button. Good if you write a lot of papers.

My favourite is at:
http://www.m-w.com
It hasn't failed me yet and I've been using it for years! It even has a pronunciation button that lets you hear how a word is said. That certainly has settled a few arguments ;)
