I get tired of hearing the abortion justifications that have no credibility to them and can easily be countered (especially the repeated argument of "the right to choose). Why don't they just admit that they're wrong? I also get tired of hearing perversions of the First Amendment that are used to justify the absurdity of banning religion in public places. But, I don't wish we didn't have freedom of speech and I never underestimate its vital importance.

Taking away basic civil liberties is a serious matter, because once taken away, it's almost impossible to get them back. As a rule, they don't get taken away by dramatic strokes, but rather eaten away, eroded. That's what Bush and company (read Cheney) are doing. The difficulty is that a lot of people simply don't care, either because they approve of harsh treatment of people they perceive as enemies, or because they simply use all their energy just getting through the day.

We are only as free as the Government allows us to be.
True the internet is at the moment an unpoliced platform for everyone to shout off,but try saying some of this crap in the street and see how free you remain.
