That is probably true. The Dems got many people's hopes up before the '06 elections when they said that if elected they would bring troops the home. They lied, people were had.

Whether or not you agree with the war in Iraq, we are at war and must continue our efforts to win. The U.S.' withdrawal from the Middle East would leave open the possiblity of hostile forces taking control of the oil and basically holding the world hostage. The United States' only hope of winning is by establishing a stable democratic system (or somehow ending the worlds' oil dependancy). Establishing democracy in the Middle East is a process that fights against a thousands-year-old history of unrest, in-fighting, dictatorships, and political deception through religion. So there is no end in sight.

The Democrats are using the war as a platform for their party and upcoming elections. However, even the Democrats realize the ramifications of a U.S. military withdrawal with the present state of Iraq being as it is. If they had the misfortune of getting their way, a slow withdrawal would keep military occupation in Iraq for years in hopes of ending the conflict and saving the embarassment of an obvious retreat for the United States.

I think the question is absurd. When Bush stood on the platform and told the American people that the war on terrorism would take decades........did he lie? No. People were just hearing what they wanted to hear. Dems and Republicans alike were all behind the effort.......Osama Or any one terrorist is not the enemy as media would have you think. It is the lack of hope, education, and freedom in the region because the people in the middle east have been told what do by the dictators and Monarchies for centuries...they are careful to only let certain families be educated. Only religious leaders can decide what the population gets to hear/read/eat/drink/think.....It will take two generations of freedom in that region to grow a population that can learn to think for itself and vote any sort of intelligent outcome. Unless we give them cover for that period of time, there will never be peace there (just like Palistine and Israel, sunnies hate shitites as much as arabs hate jews)
The surrounding countries have NO desire to see a democracy succeed next door to thier Monarcies and dictatorships. I really got a laugh out of the idiot who said that only Syria and Iran can save Iraq now...HAHAHA!!! They are the problem along with Saudi Arabia...Its tribal...Sunni against Shite...Saudi=sunni.....Shite=Iran And the big showdown is coming folks, Unless US stays there! Iran MUST be confronted NOW or there will be a war to end all wars in ten years or less time. If US leaves Iraq now..then the war will be much sooner.....Believe it or not...the US is doing the right thing....but the media is so thirsty for Bush blood they forget what is right and wrong..so the world hates America Our media is the biggest traitors in America. American Soldiers are the most proud fighting force on the earth. I am honored to work and serve with them, ask any one of them with honor if they want to leave before they can finish the job. You will hear their answer that it is the right thing to do to stay and finish the job. But you and the world will never hear thier answer unless you are trying to hear it. because the Media will drown out anything good that is happening in Iraq. The cost of freedom is paid with our blood.....And if we pay the bill right now...it will be much cheaper than if we wait until our enemies acquire the weapons to kill millions at a time...then the people in america who were complaining about a few hundred of our volunteer Soldiers dying....will shut up and hope nobody remembers the empty Gutless rhetoric they were spouting Now. Of cours whatever happens ....the media will always find a way to blame Bush for it....instead of supporting America. Leave all the talk tlak talk talk talk to the EU and the U.N. They do NOTHING.so it is easy to critisize the actions of others. Get OUT of IRAQ??? we elected a congress that cant even decide how to protect our borders. Im afraid that it will take a war on our soil to bring back an america that will demand its govenment do something besides steal and rape our country blind. I apologize for my rant.....I am sure i did not project my heart and positions clearly in just a few lines.....Honestly the only way we can ever bring our troops home and live in peace for any lasting time in the future is to make oil OBSOLETE....then the terrorists wont have the money they need to support thier business of murder and hatred.

I think it's old news that it will take years. If you think about it, now that we are there we have pretty much lost the choice of calling it quits and backing out of the game. We are a key player and the other team won't stop playing just because we did. I'm using the word game as an analogy here. We have responsibilities over there now that we as honest Americans just can't walk away from cold-turkey.

It's such a mess now it can only be sorted out with the help of Iran and Syria who are hostile to the USA so the troops will have to stay until attitudes change.
The trouble is that to pull them out now would look like defeat, the same as Vietnam.

I think a certain stupid republican entered a country over gas and uprooted their way of life. I think it would be stupid to leave the country with a wishy-washy government and unstable protection.

You must be one of my fellow Americans that believe that it is stupid to actually take responsibility for your mistakes. Or I could just say you were republican whichever is easier.
