How do you take a pencil sharpener apart without breaking it? I want to get the pencil-gunk out of it so I don't have to buy a new one. And, this one doesn't have screws in it, so that won't work. It has the hollow metal rod that goes through it.

Thanks.

Haha, either a boring question or just no one knows the answer. I should just buy a new one, but I get really frustrated if I can't figure something out.

It all depends on what type of pencil sharpener you are talking about. If you are talking about the typical, non-electic kind, you will find there is a little screw in it. Unscrew the screw, carefully take off the blade, and you have dismantled the pencil sharpener.

If you have the old style, manual, mount on the desk type the housing that holds the pencil shavings will unlock with a counter clock wise twist-looking at it from the hollow rod side.
