As much as I would like to see Bonds gone as soon as possible, it might be even more amusing to watch him have an entire season with fans knowing they will never have to see him again. I would bet that his ego would have him thinking that it will be a "farewell tour" of sorts, and that fans all over will shower him with praise, similar to what they gave to Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken a few years back after they had announced their retirement. However, I do think it might be even funnier if he ended up being in a position like Sammy Sosa was before the 2006 season where the only offer he gets is a non guaranteed minimum wage offer. It would be interesting to see if he would take the challenge of actually having to prove himself in spring training and perform well to make any real money in incentives. it would also be interesting to see if he would take that offer to play another season because he loves the game or if he would just disappear.

He will stay as long as people are willing to pay him 10-15 million per season. He will probably play for the Giants in 2008, then he will DH for the A's, or Angels or Mariners, west coast AL teams, from 2009-2011 and retire in 2011 at the age of 47, with 850 career HR's. and 3,300 hits

Whatever we feel about Barry really doesn't matter. The fact is he has never been proven to take Steroids although he admitted to have taken the "Clear" unbeknownest to him in testimony. The Federal Gov't is tring to prove that he perjured himself and that he evaded taxes. I would have liked it that he never played this season and left Hammering Hank Aaron's record intact. Now that he has the record I could care less if he stays or goes. He's an Enigma.

Only the mentally retarded and people jealous of his wealth and talent want to see him leave baseball.
As for me, a true baseball fan, I wont regret the Giant's decision to let him go after this season. He wants to extend his career, and what better way than to DH in the AL! He can play every day, except for interleague play in NL parks, but can keep his legs fresh by not playing a position.

well I'm a dodger fan so there is a slight bias lol...he needs to go, he broke the record, he's been a distraction for the game of baseball long enough. he needs to pack his bags, needles, and "unknown creams" and leave this holy game in peace.

what he's will be like 43. He is going to get hurt like that. he needs to quit. I think he is only doing it to make it seem like he is not only in it for the record. I think it was only about the record though.
