I say to the person "Sorry hold on, then I'll go " yeah? okay I'll be right there" then tell who ever your talking to that it is so and so [someones name that lives with you] has to use the phone it's important, I'll talk to you soon! Bye!

Tell them you have another call and you were waiting to hear from someone. Or tell them there is a neighbor at the door.
Or you can tell them there is a squirel that is trying to commit suicide by drowning himself in your bird bath and you must go save him.
