Mike Bloomberg, but he hasn't declared yet. If he does, he'll be running as an independent and should be taken very seriously by the American public.

He was the upset winner of NYC's Mayoral election in 2001 and took office in January 2002, just months after 9/11.

His approval rating is at 70% now which is unheard of in American politics today and unprecedented in NYC. In November of 2001 no one gave Bloomberg a chance against NYC's democratic machine and yet he was elected mayor.

Fiscally speaking, he's definitely not liberal and the most ultra-liberal New Yorkers hate him. He's done an outstanding job as Mayor of NYC keeping that city financially afloat while recovering from the spiritual, psychological and economic disaster that 9/11 was. Bloomberg is recognized by both liberal and conservative media in NYC as one of the greatest mayors the city has ever had.

Rather than wait for the federal aid Bush promised in the wake of 9/11 and then never delivered, he implemented tax-cuts and cut social programs across the board. He even had the "audacity" to close some firehouses that were financially and tactically unnecessary. He has also kept that city's citizen's and police force vigilant in "keeping an eye out" for terrorist activity. I don't know about the rest of the country, but the reason NYC hasn't had another terrorist attack has nothing to do with George Bush or Hillary Clinton and everything to do with Mike Bloomberg.

He forced the Board of Education to stop the decades long policy of social promotion where kids were promoted regardless of grades. He insisted that kids who didn't pass reading and math proficiency tests would have to repeat grades and/or go to summer school. Where accountability was called for, he made accountability a requirement.

He has frequently and consistently gone to Washington D.C. to testify before Congress and complain about pork spending and irresponsible governing by BOTH parties.

He's fiscally conservative and socially liberal like most of America tends to be and unlike all of our politicians today, Mike Bloomberg made his money the old-fashioned way: he EARNED it. He doesn't take a salary as mayor and he won't as president either.

Mike Bloomberg is the real deal.

The problem with the answer to this question is that those who are running for president are telling us what they think we want to hear so they'll get our votes.

If you think about it, which president actually did what they said they were going to do? Many of them have a few issues they have obtained, but really, a president is one person... He/She is not an authority on all laws... The president has to get cooperation from the house and senate. if they don't get the support, they can't get their policies through.

So, the President may be "leader of the free world" but he is merely a figurehead unless he can get his ideas through the other entities of government.

Anyone *can* be a great president. I'd have voted for Hillary if she had not changed her original views from post 9/11 on whether terrorism needed to be stopped before more tragedy happened here.

No one will have the time or energy to fix 220 years of inventive decisions that have been made by those who make the laws.

i do believe that the country needs to "turn the page" and i think it is time for us to get some young fresh blood in the white house -- i vote for the senator from illinois -- he will not make it -- to many rednecks and women-- but he has the making of another JFK. if folks would look at his voting record in both the senate and when he was a congressman in illinois, really listen to him, and read his books -- they would get to like and could support him for the position.

but as dumb voters the country will go with the white lady followed by jeb bush from Florida!!!

In regards to today's current candidates, I would say Hilary Clinton because I support her positions on the many issues. If we were just picking anyone, I would have to agree with the person who answered above me: Oprah.

ron paul because he is the only honest man running besides maybe huckabee. ron paul has the most consistent voting record. only person running for president that had a vote on iraq war and voted NO!! that alone should give him some credentials.
most important reason, he hates american government and the government hates him. perfect candidate if you ask me.

Elijah Wood because he's hot and knows almost EVERYTHING if he doesnt' already and he's incredibly wise and smart...he wouldn't stay single for very long though.

If you mean people who are actually running I would say Hillary Clinton because she would be the first woman president and I want to see that before I die.

It doesn't matter what you think or I, we just vote and that vote means nothing. They need to give us back our voting power when that one vote was counted.
