Johnny Cash rocked in black and stuff what others think, lol I once wore some terribly huge black silver sparkly jersey to school for mufti day when it was warm and people were more concerned that I was going to cook.
I don't have the jersey anymore since it got a huge hole in it sadly.
I have been through the whole so-called goth thing with dying my hair black etc and I still write morbid poetry haha and unfortunately short black hair does not suit my complexion, not sure if long black hair would ethier.
I make a reasonable redhead though lol.

Btw Siouxsie Sioux rocked with the goth/punk and Robert Smith from The Cure still does eventhough he's older.

Gee, I wish people would assume I am Gothic when I wear all black ... but I'm too 'old' to be a Goth (except on the inside, I am only 17 and VERY Goth) ... I'm 56. I don't think it's the 'black' that makes people 'Goth' though ... it's the 'studded jewelery' and the skulls and bones ... and I always pay compliments when I see something I really like worn by a Goth, and they look at me with such RESPECT for that ... as if my 'old lady-ness' makes their 'style' more acceptable ... which is really funny, since being Goth is supposed to be 'not respectable' at all.

That's funny.
I was sitting in my car last night waiting on a call, then I was told to go to Wal-mart so I did.
Come to find out some Indian guy was freaking out because he saw 2 people dressed in all black with black lips, and face rings, he swore up and down they were evil.
He apparently didn't understand that some Americana's simply dress this way.
I think the 2 teens were more scared of him.

Just thought I'd share that with ya.

(I'm an officer).

People these days are to quick to judge so i'd probably say yes, they would assume your gothic, i dress in all black all the time and i get a few stares but i'm like you i could care less, i dress how i want and if people don't like it they don't have to look at me, like i said, to many people in the world just look at someone and stereotype them, i hate that.....

No you wont, it depends on your hair and makeup, that makes a gothic look like one. Gothic wear that pail white makup on their faces and have lots of piercing everywhere, and generally look very messy. If you have neat black cloths I can say you wont look anything like a gothic

No, it depends what you wear that's black. Just because you wear the color doesn't make people assume that, but if you wear gothic style clothes that are black, then they may.

Or they'll think that someone close to you has died...might be a cool way to get free flowers delivered to your house (unless you're Jewish and then...well...maybe not).

Or they'll think you're Johnny Cash back from the grave, of course you'll have to schlep a guitar around with you at all times...and know the words to a few of his songs.

It entirely depends on the cut and fabric of the clothes. If you wear fancy slacks and an elegant black shirt and jewelry and red lipstick you will just look very sleek and elegant.
