Walking utilizes almost every muscle in the body; If you are trying to figure out what muscles are involved, think about what joints are being effected, and how..
When walking, many things are happening. Flexing and extension and adduction of the femur is happening. The knee and foot joint are in effect. Furthermore, the trunk of the body is constantly under stress and has to maintain a straight posture, therefore using the muscles involved in flexing and extending the trunk. In addition, your hips/trunk have to rotate when walking, causing the muscles involved for rotation of the trunk to be activated. And, to help rotation, your arms sway forward and back from flexion to extension, and the neck muscles are being used to stabilize weight. So there you go, it's practically a complete body workout.
But to be more specific and to answer your question: Yes, it works your abdominal's. First, flexion of the hip joint uses muscles such as the ilio psoas, which are deep to abdominals. Though not quite abdominals, they perform a very similar action, and are located in same region. Furthermore, your erector spinae (back muscles) and abdominals are being used as stabilizers. Your back muscles prevent the trunk of the body from bending forward, as the abdominals prevent the exact opposite. Therefore, they are being used for stability. Then, your obliques and abdominals are used to help rotate your upper body in conjunction with your hips to execute walking properly. But, the real question should be, are they working the abdominals in a way that will benefit me in such a such a way?
Hope this helps

Walking helps your legs and butt the most - since they are doing most of the work!
It helps a bit in abs and back muscles.
Add 3 sets each of 10 reps of situps, obliques, and crunches - they strengthen, flatten, and whittle your waist, as well as strenthening your back.

kinda, it works your core. and your abs, but since people walk all the time, just walking wouldn't produce a notable difference in belly muscle.

walking doesnt cause hypertrophy in any muscle. if you lose some bodyfat, you might be able to see your abs. If not, then try 3x10 crunches, or something similar, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

purely walking wont really "work" any of your body, unless it is uphill in which case your calves. overall it will keep you healthier and make other wokring out easyer, but if you really want substantial effect on your stomach you will have to do crunches etc.
