My husband & I are going up to Sedona this weekend on a hiking trip. I was wondering what are good things to put in a hiking bag? First aid kit wise for bites from snakes, scorpions, spiders, etc.? I already know about water and nutrition bars, etc. I'm just more worried about a first aid kit.

Honestly, as long as you pay attention to where you are going and stay on established trails, the chances you getting bit are rather slim. If you do feel like you need to bring a snake bite kit, here's 1: http://www.preparedness.com/extractor.html
for a general hiking first aid kit, try here:

or check these out:

The most important thing to keep you safe is to know your limits and be aware of your surroundings. Avoid needing the first aid kit to begin with and you in great shape.
Also, just having the kit is useless unless you know what's in it and you know how to use it. Familiarize your self with it before you start out. It sould only take a few minutes anyway.

A few other little reminders. You said you already know about water (1 gallon per person per day) and food (snacks, etc) but don't forget a map and compass (and know how to use them), and it never hurts to let someone know ur plan for the day(s). Maybe an emergency poncho in the bag just in case. They're small and light so it shouldn't be a big deal to stuff one in. Check with the local park rangers or even at the local outdoor store to get solid recent information about trail conditions and other ideas they might have.

Go through a check list to make sure you have everything you need/want. Here's one from REI that's pretty good. Adjust it to your needs.

Sedona is beautiful and with a little preparation you'll be able to enjoy it to it's and your fullest.

Have an awesome trip!

besides repelent and maybe some calamine lotion for mosquito bites you might also want to pack an ace bandage in case an ankle or wrist gets twisted. Maybe a small splint too to cover fingers for the same reason.

As a side note, don't forget the cell phone.

Insect repellent.
for more extreme hiking - Mirror (in-case you get lost/ stranded) to reflect sunlight to attract search planes!!
