so i tried starting my car the other day, and it started. however it stopped after a few seconds and i started to smell gasoline. in the rear passanger area i saw gas leaking on the ground, and a hose disconnected. i put the hose back and tried starting again, then it died and started leaking gas again.

so i bought a connector to tighten around the hose and tightened it up, i started for a few seconds, and the hose came off in another spot closeby. so i put a tightener around that one as well and now it starts. should i drive it to the shop, or get it towed?

Any time you smell gas or see gas and you cant saftly fix it, it is time to tow it.
If you were to be driving it and it caught fire all you could do is get out and run.
Have it towed to the shop. Yes it will cost for the tow but beter the tow the a car that blows up with you in it .
Call your insurance company and see if you have free towing some insurance due.

That depends on how far the shop is. Personally, I'd have it towed- I take NO chances with leaking gas! Use AAA if you have it, otherwise- have it towed by the service station that's going to fix your car, they may give you a discount.

Tow it, gas can and will catch fire and will destroy your car and anyone in it very quickly. It sounds as if one or two of the special pressure connections to the high pressure fuel system have been damaged. Most of this stuff can't be repaired, only replaced. You will have to get it fixed properly. Good luck.

As long as the hoses are no longer leaking gas it should be safe to drive...

Too high of fuel pressure. Well do you want to make everyone mad while you stall out infront of them? Tow it to the NEAREST shop.
