Read the transcript of the AFL-CIO debate and you'll find that Democratic leaders squarely place responsibility for almost every calamity in America – whether caused by natural forces, human negligence or imperfection, or even excess government intermeddling in the first place – on the federal government or evil corporations. This is scary stuff.

Hillary Clinton exploited the Minneapolis bridge collapse to tell us we need the federal government to invest in infrastructure – "to protect us" and to "create jobs." How would she improve the recovery in New Orleans? Simple, "The first thing I would do is put somebody in charge who actually cared about the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast," as if Republicans don't care and as if caring is all that matters – vintage liberalism.

John Edwards agreed on Minneapolis and also seemed to blame the Utah mining accident on the federal government. To Edwards, these disasters are not only the fault of the federal government, but of insider, lobby-driven Beltway politics ignoring the needs of "working men and women." But Edwards outdid himself when he suggested that 51-year-old James Lowe's speech-impairing cleft palate is the fault of the federal government in failing to provide sufficient health care and the evil "drug companies and insurance companies."

Barack Obama complained that employers are exploiting "undocumented workers." That's right, he said the illegals aren't being paid enough or receiving enough benefits.

Joe Biden said the government ought to give us "100,000 new nurses." Oh, boy.

When the candidates were not promoting a paternalistic government or demonizing corporations, they were either telling tall tales about taxes and deficits or waxing recklessly about the Iraq War and the Global War on Terror (GWOT).

Who is to blame for these horrendous incidents? Obviously, those who did nothing when they saw something wrong and didn't correct it or speak out bear a huge part of the blame-Nature has a part too-but =not always the biggest. So tell me these who have so much information on this and are pointing that figure--Where were their voices before?
Would it not be a relief to find that we are not responsible for our actions but are merely victims .Trying to pin the entire blame for our troubles on others simply does not work. Why don't these people listed try Correcting Misconceptions. And tell the whole story from the beginning. The Truth. How long has some of these things mentioned been going on? Where and who should have been checking-names? Why did it happen? Seems that bridge needed help a long time ago. Seems New Orleans was warned some time ago of dangers? Seems we had a problem with "undocumented workers for some time. And so On--so now tell me who is the blame??
I blame them all- the Greedy and Selfish. That list is long but I would be glad to face the ones you mentioned and ask them if they have those traits? Think they could tell the truth and not be part of the blame??

Oh puhleeze.

The GOP blames the government hence their desire for as small a government as feasible. At least that's how the GOP used to behave...now they pile bureaucracy on top of bureaucracy -can you say Homeland Security? I knew you could. I thought the GOP stood for limiting the government and minimizing its reach...what happened? I remember the woes of the US were placed on a large and unwieldy federal govt by Reagan...come on now...which is it? Are Dems wrong now or was Reagan wrong then? Point is...everyone blames the government that faceless scapegoat of both parties.

Hillary exploited the bridge collapse? Shame on her. Will you apologize for Rove and Bush exploiting 9/11? The last three elections have been all about the GOP will protect you, the Dems cannot and lets all remember 9/11.... Sheesh, talk about exploitation. And her point on creating jobs is spot on, it would do that. You do remember the TVA right?

John Edwards is a sideshow and even I don't pay attention to him. He should go back to his "common man" 400.00 haircuts. He's a joke and we all know it.

Obama? I think he was referring to the virtual enslavement of illegals. I could be wrong. He is an interesting candidate but stands about zero chance of winning. Maybe less than zero...and thats a sad commentary on the US.

Biden. He's right. Last time I checked we are facing a serious nurse shortage and we import most of them. If you want to employ more Americans and reduce immigration (legal or otherwise)...then we need to make nursing attractive to people....not a bad idea. And a politically safe one.

My .02...if its worth even that

The reason everything is blamed on the feds, is that they believe they could do better without a plan for improvement. If they have so many great ideas, where are they and why has nobody heard them yet. Many politicians believe people should depend on the federal government for everything in life, from medical care to food dollars to "taking care of" every ill that could befall mankind. They seem to be looking in the wrong direction, the bridge is the state's responsibility, and well New Orleans needs to get it together and learn to work as a community without depending on government hand outs, look at all the other communities that were affected by hurricanes and how many depend on themselves to recover.

Its very real that each and each action, reaction and theory impacts the worldwide and the completed universe.yet who's approximately we are speaking? What ever we are saying that is going to the air and unfold interior the universe. It impacts the universe yet we under no circumstances come to knoe the impression it gave to the universe. technology has not yet lots developed that it could bear in mind our communicate and its impression interior the air/universe. while Lord Krishna grew to become into enjoying on Fluit the cows have been continuously stay fascinated in Lord Krishna and not in any respect is going away a procedures from him. So have been the Gopies. The Fluit performed by utilising Lord Krishna remains interior the air and had unfold over the universe yet however tried point suitable technology might desire to not get performed to bear in mind the voice of fluit and checklist it. Secondly the worldwide is purely influinsed by utilising the talks of large human beings and someone-friendly guy isn't in that ability to make the worldwide agree and understand what he says. What the President of united statesa. and Russia say all and sundry will agree and save on with butif we are saying anthing no person will care might or not that's large theory or relating to better action or reaction. It relies upon on the guy who's saying something or doing something. thank you.

Well, RLP, let me tell you...

The government IS responsible for the inter-state infrastructure! Have you never driven on an "I" highway? And that would include bridges, etc. on those highways. Why is it funny to think that we need good infrastructure to remain safe? And how would it NOT create jobs?? We need jobs, and we need good roads, bridges, overpasses, etc. This would be a great place to start. Look what happened when the electrical grid went down! If a "terrorist" had done that, he'd be on the Most Wanted List. We will defeat ourselves if we allow the roads, sewers, electrical grids, etc. to fail.

The Republicans in charge obviously DID NOT care about what happened in New Orleans. There was no plan implemented that actually cared for the people in their time of crisis. God forbid if there was ever a nuclear attack! Can you imagine the ridiculous behavior of FEMA in that case? If you don't believe that the Reps in charge did not care, look at what Barbara Bush said about the people being "housed" in the stadium. (I used to think that she was the only "good" thing about the first Bush, but she proved to be a mean, racist, elitist just like the rest of her family!)

Perhaps you and yours DID care, but from some of what I have seen you write since that time, I doubt it. Unless the people affected by the disaster were high-end job-holders, I have seen very little "caring" from the Reps or the government. (Did you know that things were so screwed up that ice, meant to go to the Gulf, went to Maine?? I mean, can't anyone read a map or a newspaper these days? Not with the level of education present in the country now, I guess!)

And, yes, the safety of workers has been ignored in the godforsaken rush for profits for the upper echelon of corporate share holders! At best, most people only live to be 80 or so years old. What good is all that money then??

Obama is absolutely correct that the "illegals" are being exploited. They would not even think to come here if they didn't realize that they could make money. And how are they doing that? People who do not want to pay fair wages and benefits are hiring them!! You seem to have missed the point of what Obama was saying. If the Americans who hire the illegals had to pay, at least, minimum wage, and benefits for their workers, it would not behoove them to hire illegals. If they didn't hire them, THEY WOUD NOT COME!!!! DUH!!

We need 100,000 new nurses in the next ten to 20 years as my generation gets older and more decrepit, We don't have them in place because, while many people want to go to nursing school, there are far too few openings. The Feds could help in that area with more schools, and more nursing teachers--which means paying them well!

You may not want to believe it, but the corporations have us by the cojones--more and more all the time, and they do not care about the workers who made them rich, because there are millions of poor people who would be glad to take their places, even under poor, unsafe working conditions. (And, then, they always have the "illegals" if all else fails!)

Corporations take more in welfare than "unwed mothers of ten children by different fathers" you constantly talk about! And the deficit is HUGE!! Don't you care? How about the fact that we OWE Red China billions?? Unwed mothers bother you more than that???

And, the "war"--the useless, sensless war...I don't even want to go there, except to say this: I would feel much, much safer if the US Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines were HERE, rather than thousands of miles away fighting an unrecognizable enemy.

You need to face facts, and stop talking about the silly little things that bother you on a day to day basis. There is a crisis in this country, and people are being crushed! Maybe poor people don't count in your book, but "some of MY best friends are" poor!!!

"Some people" might think that way, but not intelligent educated people like Hillary, Obama, Edwards, etc. They don't really belive the tripe they're saying. It's called POLITICS. They say as many negative things about the current administration as they can because they know at least a couple of things; no one in the media will call them on it (heard Senator Murtha's apology yet?), and, as you say, some people believe it.

The "why" is not too complicated. "Some people" are ignorant and choose to remain ignorant. They operate on a steriotype that tells them that "Republicans are bad, Democrats are good" without having the slightest clue what they're talking about (Read "A Day in the Life of Joe Republican" above). It somehow provides them with a feeling of superiority to think they are smarter than the other guy, they have things figured out, etc. They can offer no proof of this, of course, but proof, facts, truth....none are important in politics.

"You can either believe that change can come from you...or that change can come from government."

The most profound thing I've heard from anyone in politics came from (gasp) Rush Limbaugh.

The beautiful and frustrating part of it is that none of us know who is right*.

I personally don't believe that I must rely on the government or "My Government." I think that if I want something, I need to show-up to get it. I believe that that desire inspires greatness.

I personally don't believe that the gov--My Government belongs in any of our bedrooms. But I believe marriage is a sacred institution.

I personally don't believe that the government shouldn't help those who can't help themselves, but I believe many people take advantage of handouts and scream for more from My Government (aren't those by definition My Tax Dollars? Just a thought).

I believe in God, so I pray to God...not My Government.

I also believe in my fellow man, who I believe deep-down is good and yearning to be free in his soul.

I believe in the market, too.
Schools? Trust the market.
Reserve prices on eBay? No way. Trust the market.
Universal (cough cough Socialist) Healthcare? No way. Trust the market.

To answer your question...the government is a lot like a head coach. And the players win the games.

*Rush is Right
I guess that bumpersticker says it all.

They have to be able to justify their own malfeasance. They hope the voters will agree with them, become disenfranchised enough to give them the keys to the zoo. Maybe Americans will be smart enough to see through this nonsense. Then again maybe not as many post boomer's (gen-xers and Y gens) still believe their parents are the cause of all their problems when in reality they were just rotten kids.

SIMPLE..... It's called SHIFTING THE RESPONSIBILITY no matter what the situation. The simple fact in just one instance..the Katrina/New Orleans fiasco: is that the parish and city of N.O. were both warned over forty years ago about the deficiencies regarding the levee system and CHOSE to not follow the recommendations. JUST one example.

The simple answer is these people want you to believe that the government, as controlled by them, is the answer to everything.

The power madness of these idiots is beyond scary and is now a real threat to our freedoms and liberty.

The socialists are here, and they will take care of you whether you like it or not.
