My parents have decided to go to Hawaii for their anniversary, and it will be their first time going. They want to know what island to go to? a general idea on what area to stay around? best time of year to go? etc

About them:
They are not really into super fancy romance, they are more laid back.
They are also interested in staying somewhere really pretty, they like to do outdoor activities like bike riding, hiking, swimming, etc... no extreme sports hahah

And basically just a good time, since its their first time they don't know what to expect or anything. Any advice or helpful hints will be welcomed, thanks :)

Kauai is the most beautiful Island but all the islands are good. Tell them to stay at the Princeville hotel. Its pricey but one of the nicest hotels in Hawaii and close to nature trails and one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Hanalei Bay
Famous for its spectacular beauty, Hanalei Bay is a long half-moon of sandy beach carved into the base of a sheer cliff on one side and narrowing into a rocky point on the other. The beach is a great spot for walking or throwing a Frisbee around. At the westernmost curve of the bay, you'll find a calm shoreline where the water is relatively quiet even when most of the north shore is too rough for safe swimming.
This is an amazing place and many movies have been filmed here over the years. Kauai is great.

I would check with a travel agency and let them know what I wanted. There are several small Islands, but they are all pretty crowded now.I used to spend a lot of time there, but that was many years ago.About any time of the year is good as the weather is beautiful all year round.Check on when the hurricane season is,and avoid that time.Happy anniversary to your parents!!

if they end up going to the "Big Island", tell them not to miss Akaka Falls and helicopter rides over the volcano. ( you can actually see lava flowing into the ocean). another thing they can do if they have a rental car is drive to the top of the Mouna Kea mountain. it is 14,000 feet above sea level and freezing cold. usually there is snow at the top! it's insane! you can snorkel on a coral reef in the morning and have a snowball fight in the afternoon! BTW it can take 3 to 4 hours to drive all the way up there. Hawaii rocks!!!
