I currently own aa hp6428ca notebook and it has a DVD burner. Are they supposed to burn dvds only? I thought they act as a cd burner as well? Someone please tell me if these laptops are only dvd burners or if they are cd burners as well.

Yes it will burn CD-R and CD-RW discs as well as a slew of DVD formats. Windows has software built in to burn to cds however it lacks tremednously in burning to DVD, especially DVD files. Like the other guy said, get Nero 7. It can do anything and has lots of goodies like audio converters and the like.

Most DVD burners also support CD burning -- check the manual or lookup the specs online.

If you need a burning software, I recommend Nero, www.nero.com
