i got him about a year ago and was wondering if there is a way to find out how old he is? his shell is alittle over 3 and a half inches.

It depends alot on its diet as well as the size. I would guess at least a year and no older than 3 years. Mine is pretty big and he is about 3. Evita

Technically, you can't also, the scute ring thing is a myth, especially for captive turtles. You can't be sure of the exact age unless you knew when your turtle hatched. So it's impossible. But, once in a huge while you will find a vet who can estimate. You can guess, but I doubt you can get an exact.

Not sure, but I have charted my turtles' growth, and when they were about that size, they were approximately a year old.
