sounds like gunk in antifreeze. here is what i would do. i would flush the system with a garden hose. get your self some AF and a new thermostat. make sure the AF is compatible with honda. prestone and walmart brand have the kinds that can be used in any car. be sure to read label. get a fail safe thermostat. that way if the thermostat goes bad, it sticks open instead of closed and car will not over heat. its only about 15 bucks. slide heater control inside car to max. drain the af from radiator. disconnect the upper radiator hose from where it goes into engine. this is where the thermostat is. u will need to remove 3 or 4 bolts. i think they are 10 mm to take of the thermostat housing. the thermostat will just pop right out no sweat. now the fun part. take the garden hose and stick it in the radiator at the radiator cap opening. turn on water and let it run until it comes out clear. it will pour out of the thermostat opening. once it is clear, shut water off. let it drain out. put new thermostat in. make sure it is facing the correct way. there should be an up arrow on it. (as an extra step, i took my wet dry vac and stuck it on the thermostat opening and sucked out all fluid before putting therm. back in). reattach hose. close your draincock. start putting in af. you might have a bleed valve on your accord. i am not sure as my civic does not. good luck. email if u have questions.
