All I want to say is that is too close to call, those two are my two picks for timeless all-time best QB's.
It depends on the system you want, I say for me Elway because I like more roll-outs and naked bootlegs. And I am a Raider fan, so it shows the respect Elway has earned.

I have all the respect for Brett Favre but given the choice I say overall John Elway was one of the best QBs ever to play in the NFL.

In relation to what?

If we are speaking records, Brett Favre has more of them than Elway does, and would therefore be considered "better". If you compare the head to head meetings, then Elway may win that one.

They are two very different quarterbacks with two very different styles. Elway is more accurate and sets before he throws (though he has been known to scramble). Favre is a "shoot from the hip" quarterback, and tends to throw hard, fast and into very risky situations. Each style works for each man.

The best QB? Well, I think Marino has them both beat, as does Montana and Young. Unitas may also have something to say about the best QB.

I say of the two, Favre - but I live in WI. #4 is my man!!!!

properly in my view Brett Favre had greater heart even in spite of the shown fact that John Elway had basically approximately each and all of the middle interior the international. Member that diving play that Elway had the place his physique did a one hundred eighty basically so he could desire to p.c.. up a 1st down? Now what QB places his physique on the line like that those days? yeah precisely. i could fairly have John Elway because of the fact he has 2 Superbowl victories adversarial to Favre's one. Elway had greater suited expertise around him for the duration of maximum individuals of his profession so in some techniques that's an unfair answer...could desire to you think of what itd be like if Favre had a Randy Moss, Marvin Harrison, Terrel Owens, or perhaps Reggie Wayne to throw to?

Favre. It is close, but Favre is the last real football player. He could play linebacker if he had wanted to. He didn't even throw the football in High School. He won his Super Bowl at home and everything was gravy after that. There is a good chance - with the way Favre is, that he wanted Elway to win one before he retired ( just like he handed Strahan the sack record over that jerk Gastineau!). Brett Favre probably owns all of the top 100 plays ever made by a quarterback! He is simply the best football player ever! My appologies to Jim Brown and Dick Butkus.

Elway. He beat Favre on the biggest stage in the Super Bowl.
