In Greek Mythology Nymphs have some powers but not too big.
They have healing powers, they use them to heal people who worship them.
If they are sea-nymphs they can turn the sea calm or wild.
They have oracle powers (an ancient Oracle of Nymphs was on the mountain of Kithaeron in Attica).
But they had also something bad, if a mortal sees them they make him crazy , completely mad. They send him a madness without cure.
In Greece,even today, in mountainous regions, old people (according to the tradition) advise you not to visit a river or a water-spring at night. Because you may get mad from what you will see .
But it's only legends, tradition !

Nymphs are the spiritual servants of Molwanh. They inhabit the forests and protect the trees from harm with their special powers. They can move invisibly, cause magical confusion or sleep. Travelers who respect the forests will usually be left undisturbed but some nymphs are malicious creatures and will torment intruders for pleasure.

Nymphs really don't have powers. They are said the be the keepers of nature....so they sorta take care of the trees, rivers, flowers, etc. that they live in or around. They mainly are just very beautiful and are said to be immortal

I always thought the nymphs helped keep the satyr population up and running, and kept the little buggers away from mortal women.

not really sure they usually have any powers, generally they are something that just live in their respective habitats. Although ares that are said to have them are said to be more bountiful. So tree nymphs would mean the forest and trees would be lush and would fruit more often.
